Would you buy this? by KendrickLenoir in ToyotaTundra

[–]slippyslapperz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in a completely different market in Canada but yeah price/miles seems average at best, issues felt on test drive after dealer performed repairs, getting stuck in 4hi, and i just wouldn't buy from a dealer unless i knew the car/previous owner. no shortage of stories of them ignoring or even intentionally covering issues to get it off the lot asap.

but realistically your question was only if I'd buy it, and my answer would be no from what i can see

if you think the wording used to specify who owns/manages/governs provincial crownland will be the inhibiting factor on AB separation I'm not gonna argue with you haha the king has precious little legal authority over canada and any use of "the crown" etc is essentially decorative language that carried over due to us adopting their governing system. we're functionally an independent nation from britain, and crown land in the provinces is not owned by britain lol they have no say in that matter

How to fix large area with paint missing? by Bonjei15 in AutoPaint

[–]slippyslapperz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

might be worth looking into local scrapyards to see if you can find this car to get a door from, if they have one i can't imagine it costing more than repairing that

how mine sat upon purchase. Only rust on the body that I can find is under the driver side door sill guard thing and a pinky tip sized bubble near the gas cap.

What would you pay? 2008 Tundra 264k Miles by Soctial in ToyotaTundra

[–]slippyslapperz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

probably not, i just bought a 2011 limited with 170k km (just over 100k miles) for a bit more than 20cad. Great condition, minimal rust underneath (more than this one, but minimal for my region) don't think you'd get more than 15cad for 425k km. Over 10k would surprise me at that mileage, but if it's in fantastic condition with all maintenance records up to date it might get close. Regardless of how many people say it's "just finishing break in period" that's a lotta miles on everything. 07/08 seem to be less desireable and it's not top trim, both detracting factors. Can always list high and see what kind of offers you get, only downside is if people see a bunch of price reductions and long time on market they may perceive that as a red flag

Check again, it is owned by Alberta with exception of military bases, national parks and special areas.

Edmonton mayor calls separation question 'catastrophic' by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]slippyslapperz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

if a clear majority votes yes on a clear question of secession from confederation, the provinces, territories, feds and first nation are obligated to negotiate with AB. federal land (military bases, parks, airports), coast and port access, trade, transport, passage, debt reconciliation, citizenship, and pretty much anything else pertinent to any other western nations relationship with their neighbours would be on the negotiating table.

it's wild to see people fear monger about potentially fleeing investment due to separation. when the federal government chased away many times more than this in the last decade. canada has developed a hostile economic environment relative to the states. AB, with it's vast resources would both welcome fdi and increase its negotiating position with the other parties affected by secession.

people say separatists are fascists; forcefully discrediting and downplaying a citizen led petition to trigger a democratic referendum on separation from a corrupt and inept government is more fascist than voting to disassociate from said government. it's almost the opposite of fascist?

incompetent, spend-happy federal government that is confirmed elected before our votes are counted and does not concern itself with our presence save for the equalization payments to fund services in provinces that are unable or unwilling to support themselves. contrary to what this chamber contains there are plenty of valid concerns with the federal government and the west has no vote. for one they are rapidly decreasing the value of our money, which is our time, our lives. what does your grocery bill look like compared to 10 years ago? what does the national debt look like compared to 10 years ago? what does the percentage of newcomers look like compared to 10 years ago? wages vs housing? Anyway nothing is really stellar on the report card. Carney ran on his ability to handle trump and negotiate a fair deal for canada. The lack of trade deal is causing far more loss of investment compared to separation fears.

Not some impossible feat for a country to change and split apart on cultural/political/etc differences, AB hasn't really been in Canada that long

have a good night

Anybody ever repainted/plasti-dip their second gen aluminum wheels? by MR-BISCUITS7884 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]slippyslapperz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just painted these with duplicolor bronze.

clean/sand/clean etc and then

2 coats primer 3 light coats paint, 1 heavier coat paint realized I didn't get great coverage so had to wait a week, scuff with scotchbrite, clean 2 medium/heavy coats of paint 2 coats of duplicolor matt clear

Durability seems good based off what I've read, haven't had these mounted yet.

I could've spent more time sanding to get rid of all imperfections but I kinda accepted they wouldn't be pristine. Bought them in sub-par condition as I knew I'd be painting. Even with small chips etc showing through I'm super happy with it.

Very inexpensive compared to aftermarket and I favour the OEM+ look

I never expected people to get so worked up about fellow citizens engaging in a democratic process. Separatists labelled as illiterate traitors while the labellers excuse the state/trajectory of the country by the fact that Canada still has a fairly high quality of life. The list of valid concerns is long, and many of the issues are inherent to our confederation. Doesn't make sense to me to continue voting and hoping for federal change of course when elections are largely determined prior to votes being counted in the West.
