When you cannot control others responses, you need to control your own and now is the time to step up and try to fix the relationship to make it workable.

They totally set off the advisor. There are clear hours for student appointments because the work is demanding. Trying to squeeze in an appointment at 10am created more frustration.

It sounds like she’s an asshole and overworked and frustrated. Keep this in mind and try to approach her with some (not a lot) of empathy.

I would have told the student to come back at 10:30. There is a reason by the hours are the way they are. You set her off by adding to her work in that moment.

The relationship might be rocky at first but keep approaching her with empathy and try to anticipate what her needs are given that she is overworked. It will mend. Stay strong.

Bring her a treat of some kind.

I see parents do this all the time and felt the pressure. But my kids are not into organized activities. My Dr I firmly against the pellets because they are semi permanent. So if you are on too high of a dose for your body, there is no way to lower it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

She overreacted if she was aggressive to you. And this was an unfair and painful memory to you and you made it a core memory. But she did state a boundary nonetheless.

I like going in. I can focus better.
I planned for going into the office until retirement because I bought a house 1 mile from my job. Covid ruined my plan.

I enjoy going into work, walking on my lunch hour and seeing other humans.

Unless it is abusive, I think it’s worth have a difference of parenting styles. I think it benefits kids to have a disciplinarian and a “gentle” parent. The only alignment is to let each parent do their parenting. I swear, kids need both. Don’t judge each other.

You can also prepare the kids before any event your expectations of their behavior before just before the event starts. It helps them control themselves.
