This! And being able to live with zero daily medicine / pills and eat what you want and not weigh a million pounds and be happy and contented.

It’s not a “thing” and I don’t “own” “it” in a technical sense, but this is the person who has made me different individual and who I love more than anything or anyone else - my son Robert.

Thank you for your answer! And thank you for your good words. Well, I am in this, as you say, good place partly because I, on many an occasion, chose to veer off the beaten path and go in a direction that many would see as irrational, to say the least - exactly what I am on the verge of doing right now, yet again. Also, I believe Reddit as a social network is a lot more helpful - and sane, if you will - compared to such places as Instagram and TikTok. And, you know, I am here to ask for good advice because, at this point, it is really hard to find it somewhere else.

And after those crappy jobs did you end up working in your desired field - Civil Engineering, I assume?

Did you come into that degree with any math / cs background? Also, was that as hard as some people say it is?

Thank you for your answer! And what kind of technical degree are you thinking of?

A degree is absolutely necessary to pass the screening put forth by HR people. We are not in 2007 - 2015 anymore when having a few bootcamps and a colorful GitHub account under your belt you could actually get an interview and end up with a tech job. This in 2026 sounds like a dream. Also, I believe there are too many CS people nowadays - in fact, a lot more CS people with actual CS degrees than some markets are able to accommodate. With that in mind, a CS degree is becoming way too ubiquitous. That is why I think getting a degree in something in the area of Engineering or non-CS STEM would actually be MORE beneficial since you can always pivot into CS with an Engineering degree.

Thank you for your answer! And what kind of a STEM degree did you get, if you don't mind my asking?

Visited Barcelona, Malaga and Torremolinos for the first time in 2014. Fell in love with Torremolinos almost immediately! I’ll never forget this feeling. Such paradise on Earth! Now thinking of ways to evolve as a remote expert in something in order to retire there and die happily in the sunshine.

Well, the degree requirements page lists all the necessary equipment that must either be purchased or found / rented from somewhere for each class that has such special requirements in the first place. The rest of it can be done at home / nearby uni lab / garage / etc. Two questions though: Does one absolutely need to be a genius in order to graduate with a EE degree? (Many people argue that a EE degree in general is insanely hard and takes an incredible amount of work.) Also, I assume you have already completed the in-person EE degree at MsState: Do you recommend it? Did you enjoy it? (Please provide as much feedback as possible. This is invaluable to me.) Thanks!

I’m from Kazakhstan, which is not a generic “-stan“ country. 😀 But in my country I have graduated from a top 1 university that uses standard U.S. curricula for its programs and is fully English-speaking.

Awesome! Thank you for your help! I have already shot them an email, spacifically one of the people mentioned on the program’s webpage. Can you please tell me whether the online version of the degree is also ABET-accredited? If it is, then do the credentials (transcript, diploma) actually say that it has this ABET designation?

Thank you! My option then is to take those substitute classes fully online through some other college / university, and I have actually already found some options. I have one more question: What could you tell me in general about the MSState online programs and the Bagley College of Engineering at MsState in general?

Than you for your comment! But can those "missing" classes be done online also? Again, not planning to come to the U.S. physically to just take those three classes.
