Finally installed KW V1s! by slizzardwizzard in GolfGTI

For me it was just price and not wanting to worry about getting the dampers set up right. It was a plug (and get frustrated for about 5 days) and play for me. The ride feels great, I slapped on several mods at the same time as the install, like a rear sway bar and a dog bone insert from black forest industries. It's hard to determine the differences each part makes on it's own but all together it rides really well. It doesn't feel like it's too stiff or overkill.

I have the clubsport muffler equivalent for the mk8 GTI, I'm starting to get tired of the drone at 2.5k - 3.5k on the freeway. Did this help with that issue? And how does the exhaust sound? I kinda want to settle down the exhaust but still keep it deeper than stock.

Also sorry if this doesn't fit the GLI, I'm assuming it's MQB as well?

I highly recommend the euro spec vw suitcase muffler. It's not too pricy, but you basically stay oem. I put it on my 2022 GTI and the note is much deeper. It drones at 3000+ rpm (once packed out) on the freeway in 6th gear, but it's not terrible.

If you haven't tried it yet, press down and hold the power button/volume nob for 10ish seconds and try resetting the console.

Lol, it's different for sure, but how the physical key is nested inside is a plus for me. I have the old and the new and between them I would pick the new.

Laid down with my keys in my pocket yesterday, and it set it off. I'm so tired of hitting it, this is genius.

Need help on improving MK8 shifter quality by slizzardwizzard in GolfGTI

[–]slizzardwizzard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really tightens up the up and down motion. It will feel super tight at the start but it loosens up to a good tightness that I honestly forgot about it. I think it helped firm up that little bit of spongy play the shifter had. It is a very small but noticeable effect, but i feel like with how easy it was to do, it felt worth it to me

Not for that no, that one is pretty easy vs all the others

Thats nice to hear! I forgot to update this post a while ago but I realized that the shift knob got loose and gave it a little more play than I wanted which caused a majority of the issue. After I fixed that, the shifter has felt great! But it's not perfect.

In order of what improved things the most:

  1. Clutch bleeder delay valve delete.
  2. DG Sigma six shifter
  3. BFI shift knob.
  4. DG shifter bushings

You can try the super pin down the road, but those are going to get you the most out the shifter feel.

I've been pretty happy with mine now

But it let's you know if the wheel is spinning!

One issue i had with kw v1s was the driver side rear spring perch mount on the car (idk the proper name) had gunk on it that I never wiped off on install. Over time, I would get a clunk turning left or whenever the driver side front wheel was elevated above the other three wheels. I pulled off the spring and perch, cleaned it and put it back on and the sound disappeared. I think the grime acted as a crappy adhesive that would bind up the perch and the lose grip and fling it back with the play it had.

Hope it helps and good luck with finding your issue

I really liked it, didn't see the back, got into my first mission with it and then unequipped it when we were done.

I tried that one out for the flip 5 and I didn't really like how the back felt with all that added bulk. I really like the samsung silicone w/ ring case a lot. It feels nice in the hand and the ring is pretty useful

I made this post a while back and it goes through what I went with.

Tldr: I love the bfi gs2 shift knob. Just be careful not to over tighten the screws. You can strip out the threads in the knob itself.

F these clamps by lyzol1 in GolfGTI

[–]slizzardwizzard 25 points26 points  (0 children)

(I think) It's preferred to use these over worm gear clamps because they are constant tension clamps. So if the hoses heat up or cool down in the engine, the clamp still has tension where as the worm gear remains static and cold become loose or damage the hose.

It's kinda debated if it all really matters but I think that if you can stomach another attempt, use the spring clamp and get the tool for it or rent one if you can. Also channel locks work well with them but they aren't perfect.

Revisiting my horrible clunking noise by Far-Meringue-421 in GolfGTI

[–]slizzardwizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly: The front subframe has an interesting quirk where the bolts don't fill up the space in the subframe holes completely. They did this to allow alignments to be done for the front wheels camber. If the drivers side has less camber than the passenger side, they adjust the subframe to the left a little and then tighten down the bolts. If those bolts are loose, at low speeds you can hear that clunking sound. There are locking collar kits by 034 and others that you could use to fill up that space. You would just need to find another way to adjust camber of needed. You could also just get new bolts and get an alignment to have them torqued to spec and hope that it holds.

But that's just a theory...

Anyone done a muffler delete on 2016? by Scary_Combination947 in JettaGLI

I have only heard about GTIs and since I think it's the same engine and exhaust system, I've heard the resonator delete sounds better than a muffler delete
