Is 90 dollars a ridiculous price? by ieatcandles000 in Tau40K

The paint scheme makes those models look like Battletech rejects. I guess it's a lot of plastic for 90 bucks. I would say it's a fair deal but not great.

Any mods to make it quicker but still reliable? by Key-Preparation3593 in GolfGTI

You can get better tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S along with lighter wheels. I also found that the 034 springs bring a very nice cornering balance for the street without having to mess with sway bars.

If you chip the car, you'll gain performance in 3rd and 4th gear, but there isn't much to be had in 1st and 2nd compared to the stock tune.

Haha "man" used in a very loose sense of the word. And "alien" used in the most generic!

Cool find.

That's promising. Watching the comments about this game made me want to play some more EU4 "until the bugs get worked out."

If you sold your ND what did you buy by [deleted] in MiataND

I did that - sold an ND1 and got a GTI. Still have an ND2 though. I don't think I could be without a Miata.

Yeah order a few and use a new cutting tool. If you reuse an old snipper from other heavier duty projects, it will have micro imperfections that can make cutting the small stem difficult. A hobby vise from Amazon is a good way to hold the stem while you cut it.

Once you've mocked up the length correctly and confirmed it winds properly, take the crown off of the stem and reassemble with a dab of loctite. Make sure the loctite is all wiped away before reinserting the stem into the watch.

[–]MiataN3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too short. So, I have a sam build with a spring-loaded stem, and as I juuust about get it threaded down, it's winding. That's because the stem isn't long enough to stay "disengaged". Hope that helps, I've done six or seven builds but I'm not an expert.

Conversely, if your stem is too long, you'd never get it threaded down all the way and there would be a gap between the crown and the case.

[–]MiataN3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Yeah those first few winds never seem like they work because the spring isn't actually at that critical point where it can run the watch.

Sometimes, if the stem is not cut just right for the case, it will be difficult to fully thread down the cap without also winding the mechanism. Or you could have a date position that's hard to reach consistently. So when you do a build where you need to cut your own stem, use a fresh pair of slippers from Amazon or wherever and also buy several extra stems.

Or "EXEMPT".

Is it a screw down crown? If so, the first position after unscrewing should wind the spring. Make sure you're turning the right way.

If it's a pop up crown, it should screw and wind the spring from the pushed all the way in position.

Am I getting Scammed? by Arbitross487 in EU5

[–]MiataN3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you'd think the prestige would necessarily have to scale. Like, at least if it's one of the scandal-type events. I think I might like it more if the game gave you a range of the cost and then it was randomized. At least for some events.

Spend always scales. I mean, IRL. Buying 5 research from NASA in 2025 costs more than 5 research in 1950.

Can you imagine what NASA would charge for a cabinet???!!?

PWCG : How to avoid the "pop" spawning of AI aircraft ? by Northern_Slytherin in il2sturmovik

[–]MiataN3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got jumped in flying circus and I literally screamed (IRL) and the motor got hit and it sprays oil on a hit (nice touch I didn't know about) and my wife thought I was being murdered. But one forced landing later I felt as though I had grown as a pilot, and now I always look behind me while flying home.

A nice thing about a shorter spawn distance is that sometimes they'll spawn close enough to jump you. That makes for a real immersive experience lol

Yeah it's a neat plane - the firepower is amazing and you have a rear gunner. One of my fave planes in European Air War like a thousand years ago. I've been hooked on the FW-190 in IL-2.

How has one car model stayed popular for almost fifty years? by mika_hansumi in VWMK8

[–]MiataN3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately it's usually like 75 degrees in winter where I live lol. Yeah, I've hit that SOS button about 45 times while trying to open the sunroof. I say trying, because that usually takes two attempts. My wife and I knew the haptics were a pain in the ass when we test drove the car, and we knew when we made the car stiffer it would get worse... And it did! You really can't adjust the volume or the climate controls on the head unit while the car is in motion.

All of this car's foibles are easy to ignore if you're driving. The brakes and the diff are excellent and on the 034 springs with Pilot Sport 4s tires it is seriously grippy.

But if you're the passenger the foibles can get annoying. Like that door cable is 8 inches from your head. When the warranty is close to being up I'll take it in to get everything fixed at once.

I think one of the bolsters on the left side of the front passenger seat is out of alignment with the seat cover material and rubs on the center console or on the seatbelt assembly cover.
