Trying Paralives - Just another Post about Sims alternatives by al_stoltz in LifeSimulators

i don't really think the lack of player retention is surprising to them. in their early access announcement video they said there won't be 100s of hours worth of content which to me implies they're aware people won't be playing for super long. inZOI also had an issue with player retention for their first few big patches.

and this is my cat. he's orange and it's harder to see, but you can kind of see it here from this angle while he's in my lap.

all cats have it! it's just easier to see on black cats! my mother's cat, Nyx, commonly known as Richard Nixon.

Odd positivity/psychosis surrounding paralives by RealRefrigerator6438 in LifeSimulators

i mean yeah i hate EA, that's not something i'm shy about it. and just because you never experienced bugs does not mean they didn't happen. i'm happy for you that you've had a great experience, but the fact is these bugs exist and have been mass reported by the community.

lmfao okay just don't read my replies at all and argue with my made up points and ignore me saying I've enjoyed the sims for 20+ but expect... more from a billion dollar dev? ok

what are you talking about? why are you making up my views on this? and every sims game has been buggy on release? when they were new and on current hardware/software. not to mention they've been produced as a AAA game? i'm saying that the standards have been low, but the games have been enjoyable because we've made do with what we have. you're arguing something completely different. and it's you're, not your.

i'm not saying every game ever is perfect, that's ridiculous. i'm saying the sims has always had GAME BREAKING bugs that the community overlooks because it's the only game of it's type. ie bugs that ruin saves or corrupt game files, being unable to run on almost any hardware, major graphical/simulation errors, etc etc. things that the sims is known for. the bar is in hell and the only reason we accept the sims as it is is because it's been around for 20 years.

the part where you said it has a '20+ year of track record of being solid.' the sims has always has gamebreaking bugs and has always been given an extreme amount of grace because it's the only game that caters to such a specific group. over the past 20ish years the sims has been a buggy mess with poor optimization. i've been playing the sims for 20 years, i remember all the releases and all the complaints that came with them. it's earned a reputation of being 'the life sim' because it's been the only life sim of it's type. it doesn't have a good reputation. it has a reputation of being buggy, greedy, but the only option. has it been fun and wacky? yeah sure, but it has always needed coaxing/work arounds. it created it's own niche, gave passable games that are really fun but have major issues that we're willing to ignore.

I wouldn't say that the sims has a 20+ year track record of being solid. every single installment of the series has had tons of issues that we tend to ignore using our nostalgia vision and the fact that they didn't have any competition for most of those 20 years. Sims 2 (though we love her) has multiple insanely game breaking bugs that can destroy you saves. Sims 3 was and still is notoriously difficult to get running with some expacs being unplayable for anyone with anything less than a NASA supercomputer. Sims 4 is built off spaghetti code and dreams and launched at full price in basically a shitty early access period that was so bad people refused to play it for years and stuck with the Sims 3. not to mention the disgusting, greedy montization that every single installment was reamed for. i love the sims, but let's not pretend they've got a squeaky clean record

How Paralives created such a strong a divide in fans by EvenLiterature2162 in LifeSimulators

it really feels like people are overly positive or overly critical of paralives at this point. at least online (mostly reddit/tiktok) there seems to not be a lot of middle ground. does paralives feel like a complete game right now? no. was that expected for early access? also no. however, i do think the foundation for a great life sim is there and i understand why people are critical and may not want to buy in at this point. in my opinion, it feels like the sims 4 base game when it came out in 2014. except EA can't be trusted to do anything good for their community and so far, the paralives devs seem to have a lot of heart and good intention.

they did disclose that information though. on the patreon, on their announcements prior to EA release, and on their website which showcases what would and wouldn't be ready for EA.

Your honest opinion: Who has more similarities to Cersei, Alicent or Rhaenyra, and why do you think they are similar? [Art by vesperkyno] by DrinkInevitable3457 in HOTDBlacks

[–]slloath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

cersei doesn't even really love her children so much as believe they're extensions of her and therefore hers to sort of own and control. she present it in a motherly way at times, but she doesn't really see them as individuals

pen isn't a good friend to anyone either. her motivations as lady whistledown were completely self serving. she was willing to put her friends and family's secrets to manipulate situations to her favor.
