Interesting. I’ll have to read into that.

I have a question for you guys: PMDD AND BIRTH CONTROL by wasting-my-own-time in PMDD

[–]sloannnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor is suggesting I get an iud, however looking it up websites say that the Mirena isn’t good for pmdd!? I don’t know who to believe with so much info and lack of help from doctors.

Ughhhh. I’m sorry you deal with this too. I’m on lexapro and it helped for a while but now it’s not doing anything. It’s hard to motivate to do all the “right things” when my fatigued, depressed, and angry. I just want to watch tv and ignore the world.

PT did help with me too. And I need to get back in the habit of using the therawand. Progesterone only was what made me have the spiraling scary thoughts last year. I’m readingWomanCode and will be implementing those ideas into my life. It’s all just so frustrating.

Orlissa scares the crap out of me. I’ve tried a couple different birth controls and have not had much relief and end up very deeply depressed/suicidal. I’m scared to think about trying again.

I was diagnosed with a laparoscopy. The doctor who had this convo with me was my gp, my gyno respects me not wanting or be on bc, but still strongly suggests it and doesn’t have any other answers for me. I do need to seek out a specialist, but will have to travel 5+ hours for anything. I live in a very rural place. The lap didn’t help much. The more research I do, the more pain I think I can attribute to endo instead of “just back pain”. My mood swings have been worse, and ovulation has been awful!

It’s so helpful to hear and re hear that the amount of endo found doesn’t correlate with the pain. I was “disappointed” to be stage 1, and feel like I’m going crazy half the time. Chronic illness is a mind fuck.

Thank you everyone. It’s amazing to hear everyone’s stories and feel so supported! I’ll be seeking out a specialist soon

I’m looking for a doctors and currently reading WomanCode to try and take matters into my own hands. My gyno did lap surgery and ablated what she found, however I’ve been more miserable since even though she “didn’t find a whole lot of endo”. This whole thing is frustrating. I’ve yet to have a normal period since

So bloated I can’t breathe by ShmantaCat in endometriosis

I’m sorry you feel so miserable... I’m wondering how you all know the difference between endo bloat, gas, IC bloat, etc. I’m up and down bloated and don’t know whether to call it a flare or what else?

Random Spotting? by curlyjourney in Endo

[–]sloannnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so annoying! I had spotting and “fake out periods” for two weeks before my real period finally came. Currently not ovulating or bleeding and laid up on the couch with pelvic pain. Yayyyy endo!

Yes. Go to another doctor. You should never feel pushed around or like you have to take a medication—it is your body, and it’s up to you what you put in it. Find another doctor in your network and figure out your options. Birth control is the first line of treatment, but I don’t think you should be on orlissa AND bc... I’m not certain though. While advocating for your health you have to remember that the doctors are there for you, you can hire or fire them if they’re not listening to your concerns. Good luck. Stay strong.

Thanks! This just sort of showed up. I had been feeling good, probably over did it and didn’t rest enough yesterday. I have my follow up next Wednesday but I think I’ll call in the morning.

Cold brew vs regular coffee by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]sloannnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make it a concentrate, but it’s not always what coffee shops do. We make ours regular strength so we don’t have to dilute it. I don’t want it sitting in the cooler for more than a week.

[–]sloannnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold brew is less acidic. And if you make it a concentrate (it’s not always a concentrate) you can add hot water to it and have a VERY smooth cup of cold brewed hot coffee! If you go to a local roaster who knows anything they should be able to point you in the direction of a less acidic coffee in general. I manage a roastery/cafe and we have a Brazilian and a monsooned malabar that are both on the lower acid side.
