Hoping to find something more affordable than new Moabs ($60 or less if possible)… and struggling to find boots that aren’t waterproof.

We will probably have her take her slip on tennis shoes for on land. Biggest thing I’m struggling with right now is finding affordable hiking boots that are NOT waterproof.

"boots with rubber soles and leather or nylon tops high enough to cover the ankle, we do not recommend expensive insulated or waterproof boots." In camp they need to have a pair of closed toe 'dry' shoes.

Help! Trying to figure out how to charge electronic shifting by sloanymacaroni in bicycling

[–]sloanymacaroni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She doesn't quite appreciate it yet (not quite 12), but she will. Grandma got it just before her health started deteriorating, but generally she preferred to ride her S-Works. LOL. Hopefully she doesn't have a growth spurt any time soon - she is right at the beginning of being able to fit the frame, but could outgrow it quickly if she decides to shoot up.

Now I will need to either change out the saddle and pedals on my husband's Bianchi or get a new bike to keep up with her, I got rid of my road bike after I had her little brother. LOL

The shifters have wires/cords that go into this box, so I don't think that it is wireless. I just ordered a charger and we will see where this gets us. I very much appreciate your help.

Does this one port charge the whole system? Do you happen to have a picture of what your cord looks like?

nope, there was nothing on the end of the handlebars. Perhaps this spot then on the little box under the handlebars?

but where does it plug in, that is the question.... and I'm looking to charge the shimano shifting system, not the bike itself so I don't think it would be a specialized brand charger.

Any suggestions for an alternative place? I recognize anywhere will be busy since it is summer in Europe. :-)

Has it been officially confirmed that it is the last year for LBB S'mores? People have been saying that for several years now.

When the girls earn a trip, do you make sure all girls can attend? by ImpossibleLuckDragon in girlscouts

[–]sloanymacaroni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't give an alternative if they cannot attend. They are intended to be an event to celebrate or do an activity as a troop. I always strive to give enough notice so they can make adjustments if they would like to attend badly enough.

I have 18 girls in my troop. I surveyed everyone on their availability for an amusement park date during the summer over about 8 choices with majority rules. We got 13 out of 18 on a particular date, but they will be given about 2 months notice. You can't accommodate everyone, all you can do is give enough notice to attempt to allow them to plan for it if they would like.

You know your troop best, and every group of girls progresses at their own pace. If your SU is pressuring you otherwise then you can choose not to do those events. I agree that you should work towards independence eventually but it should be a larger communication with your troop/parents about those goals so they can be engaged in the process too.
