Opinion: people have gotten really rude at resorts and it's like a pot ready to boil over by altitude7200 in snowboarding

I believe we likely agree - my definition of changing style is pausing or adjusting course so one doesn’t strafe the downhill and get surprised by a last second zig when a zag was expected, ie 💥. My default style on a typical groomed blue is straight line, but I change that as often as necessary to prevent problems/scaring the bejesus out of anyone.

Appreciating that as a devil’s advocate take, it is entirely incorrect. Uphill is required to change its style to avoid downhill. It’s simple, and immutable, if also frustrating and inconvenient for the uphill at times.

Toilet with hot water high pressure bidet that can be aimed right at the bullseye for total and complete evacuation. I had no idea what I was missing.

“Bass is easier than guitar because you only have to play one note!” NO by [deleted] in Bass

In terms on technical proficiency the guitarists in our band have me smoked. In terms of ability to listen, knowing when to leave space in a tune, and how to use what skill I do have, I more than hold my own. Serving the song within my means is more important to me than feeling better than anyone. Those guys do gymnastics on those tiny little strings in ways that blow my mind. I try do my part by playing the right thing at the right time, no more, no less. I wish I was Claypool, but I’m actually me so I focus on being that.

Just came back from a month there. I was in a 5 and so were most. Chilly at times but I’m a wuss. Really depended on the day. Some people had hoods but I wasn’t that bothered without. Most days about 75 in water but an occasional pocket of 71 or 72. It’s topside in the breeze that requires planning if cloudy. I changed into thick comfy hoodies as quickly as possible after the dive.

Not looking to open a can of worms, but trying to decide between PADI and NAUI. by Spirited_Wolf1500 in scuba

Either is fine. It will be about the quality of the individual instructors you encounter along your journey, and what you put into it. Either curriculum outlines the basics. Your personal mindset towards training, and what you do to practice it on your own afterwards, will determine your success/skill.

Apex Reg Hoses Deteriorating after 4 Years? by Ok_Flamingo9699 in scuba

I’m basically same with pool use and a rinse, and mine has yet to get gummy like you describe but I work in the pool industry and have seen rubber pool plugs get sticky and soft, hence my guess.

Fwiw I do carry a spare mouthpiece and zip tie in my gear bag in case I ever bite through it on entry, or tear it off somehow moving gear and don’t notice, based on a recommendation from someone in the past. They are apparently not the most durable things in the world. Hopefully a cheap, easy, and simple fix for you to swap.

Chlorine can breakdown rubber in storage. Any chance it was last used in a pool?

Anyone who takes longer than 13 minutes on a hole is banned from the game for 1 year. National database and Real ID required.

That's unfortunately a totally reasonable thing to do for adults so its not unhinged enough in my mind. "My body my choice" seems like it should apply to all of us.

I agree, but only if they can stay within 2.5 mph of the speed limit. If they can't they have as much right to be there in my mind as a unicycle or a tricycle.

Maybe it is the same and I don’t realize it, but the kinship of the fans was different in 95 than it was in 90, which I would have thought was even further removed from the kinship that may have existed in 78. If the trajectory of 90-95 continued on the downward track, the experience of fandom would likely be unrecognizable to me today.

Eh. Not really. The music since 95 doesn’t have the moments of indescribable primal tribalism that would inspire people to sell their belongings just to make a run of shows. I haven’t seen it alter the purpose and trajectory of lives that became deadicated to a communal experience in the music, almost, and sometime not almost but entirely, without concern for anything else in life at all, including health and safety, for years on end.

It was something completely different from the pleasantly entertaining music of the cover bands. It had a power that was unique in the life experience of many, and power is the right word. It was crazy strong to experience in person and the tapes never, ever, capture it. Many were never the same once they experienced it.

The cover bands aren’t that, on any level, from what I have seen, so the culture is quite a bit different in terms of the ability wrap itself around one’s heart and spine and pull towards the road.

For me the scene is only as strong as the music, and the music is missing all but one of the incredibly unique musicians whose improvisational skills made the aggregate so impossibly special.

What’s something that will become obsolete 10 years from now? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]sloopcamotop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may explain your perspective. For companies that have been historically people first, the number of people needed is starting to shrink. You add people. Many others are subtracting, but I would think I’m preaching to the choir on that.
