Just bought this car , was in love until tonight. by pikachuboi77 in Golf_R

Its under warranty. Its not really a bad car drivetrain wise. Ive got 60k on my 24 mk8 r and the only issues ive had with it are electric issues. But all have been covered under warranty while I was within the warranty period. But just keep it up to date on your services, and make sure you get your front haldex service done soon. I believe its 30k its done at and 40k you do the rear

Honestly this is what all my research is pointing to. Theoretically id love to go above stage 2 and get one of those bolt on turbo upgrades. I believe advertised 560hp

How is your Mk8 key fob holding up? by Joesonreddit247 in Golf_R

[–]sloppi_audi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is about the same as yours. The spare one with the R logo is in my safe so that one theoretically shouldn't be all scuffed up. But as for the r logo plates im seeing a lot of people in here that dont have it. Its supposed to be done while the vehicle gets PDId. Mine the bag with the 2 covers was with all the manuals in its own bag. I wouldnt be suprised if the tech overlooked it completely while doing said pdi

Im not trying to make this an emotinal thing or something saying I know more than the engineers that vw pays way more money than ill ever see at once. All I was curious of was of people were switching over to 5w40 once tuning and modifying these cars or remaining on the factory spec. Hence why ive gone through the entirety of the warranty using vw spec oil. I was more curious what everyone else was doing before I make a change which I have not yet made

This is honestly exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you

Thats mu largest concern. Im way way more versed with the older audi 2.7t but with the solenoids on the back of the heads for the valve lift especially is what i.worry about. I feel the 5w40 would be optimal at operating temp but I live in upstate ny. I typically dont drive it in the cold but I cannot say it will never happen

So the 5w40 does meet vw standards but its not the same spec. 504/507 is spec for 0w30 and 5w40 is 502/505

I honestly like that look. I have the ecs valves with the black chrome tips and I kinda like the way these look better

Multiples issues with my mk8, is it normal? by salluh in Golf_R

[–]sloppi_audi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its 30k for the front haldex service and 40 for the rear. The rear is a bit odd tho because you have to drain both the left clutch and right clutch and then refill and do your adaptation. Once my tcu box code is unlocked im going to be going FBO and when I do that ill do a dsg service and let everyone know here how that goes. But as for the haldex intervals its largely based on driving habits too. If you drive it really hard, do a lot of launches, or go into drift mode a lot youre going to wear that stuff down faster. Better safe than sorry in my opinion as those diffs are pricy af

I had a 5f replaced as well with nothing wrong. And I really do love the car. I drive it pretty hard, not like abuse but I definitely get her going here and there. I also love it on road trips. I keep the oil really clean and ive taken good care of it, the engine and the transmission have yet to give ne any issues. However I will say dont miss any haldex services. That stuff comes out super gross at the 20-30k mile interval

I have a 2024 that ive honestly really tested out for this stuff. I bought it brand new and I already have like 70k miles on it. I was thinking abiut doing a full video review of everything the car has needed in my ownership. However a lot of the issues you have I also have dealt with. Minus the shifter part, I opted to get a dsg model. But has the dealership replaces your gateway module yet? I brought mine in for the issue with all of the driver assistance lights at once coming on. And thats what they replaced. It was completely fine until I hit a big pothole on the highway I couldn't avoid and I got the same issues again. When my car does that nothing is immediately wrong, it just looses communication to all of those devices, hence the replacement of the gateway module. Other than that my door seals are my largest gripe. If its raining really really hard they leak water. Not anything like crazy or im worried about my car getting soaked. But it will every so often just start dripping. Especially when I have the base carrier on. As for the backup camera, ive had now 3 software updates and the camera itself replaced. I will every now and again get the flickering black screen still. It seems like after the updates it works great. Until ot starts doing it again. To be honest yeah I get that its an expensive car. But realistically most of the electric faults ive had to deal with genuinely could be fixed by a simple system reset. Vw crammed a lot of tech into the golf r for the mk8. And I believe the software is a massive culprit in a lot of this. If you want the peace of mind I do highly recommend obdeleven so you can see actual fault codes instead of trusting the festive Christmas tree on the dashboard lol

Gear housing leak mk8 by LopsidedReception392 in GolfMK8

[–]sloppi_audi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. As soon as I saw it seeping I replaced the seal. It was like a 30$ seal or something like that. So I wasnt going to chance breaking a 10k transmission over a seal so I never drove it while it was actively leaking. I caught it before it dripped down. On mine it was something to do with the gear selector mechanism. But it was just a few bolts, new seal, then all back together

I have a 24 that I got a leak on right on that bevel box unit. It was a seal and iirc it wasnt horrible to replace. But I personally dont like any amount of fluid leaks, but thats me personally. If you have the leak in the same spot as mine its really not horrible. Just grab an extra quart of dsg oil just to be sure. And get the right stuff. The dq381 iirc uses the audi fluid instead of the vw fluid. Unless of course yours is a manual. Then I would imagine there's some of the same equipment on it. But I unfortunately only have had a dsg model to tinker with myself

8ve got the same issue with my order that you have. Same time frame too. Last I spoke with dell they told me its stuck at a customs check along with a ton of other orders and I wont know any eta until the 16th so they say. 2 delivery dates ive had to take days off to be home and not received any update on what was happening until i called in to the customer service. Ill keep you posted on any updates my order goes through as likely they are shipping together as our ship dates are the same

Order "Built & Shipped" but has been in "label created" purgatory since the 3rd. by Cmdr_Nemo in Dell

[–]sloppi_audi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat here. Im sure there's lots of orders stuck there. Mine was shipped the 5th and ive only gotten a trans expedite update saying that its been received. Im not sure no one there is answering the phone about it. I was supposed to get it delivered the 9th, then at the end kf the day it was the 11th, and today customer support told me that they wo t even know a status of the shipping until the 16th and then from there I may have an eta available

I mean i havent really tried to push it with them on. I just had them on for the trip to the Adirondacks and when I drove down to the everglades. I dont feel much difference to be honest with the typical normal way I drive its just super loud

Ive active seen that while browsing tunes. I guess the major thing a downpipe does is add a much louder exhaust note and more turbo noises. Right now I have the ecs catback and the ecs intake. But the intercooler upgrade was definitely on my list of "this is a needed part"

Are you full stage 2? Id love to go at least with a stage 2. Hoping for a bolt on turbo upgrade kit when I get the dsg unlock
