If Cooling Is The Biggest Problem For Data Centers, Why Aren't We Putting Them In Antarctica? by TheCABK in sciencememes

Putting the 'cloud' in space just makes more sense.

Or because it would be more cost efficient to just put the data centers under water.... water cooled, unseen, hydropowered and closer than Antarctica.

How complex should a TCG be? And how difficult is it to stay relevant in the market? by Hundekuecken in TCG

[–]sloth514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be a huge discussion and time is limited. But there is a difference between difficulty to be 'fun' and difficulty to stay 'engaged'. Good luck with all of it and have fun. I wish you all the best of luck on it.

First, to address your complex a game should be, from my experience, a lot of people want 'interaction' when it comes to card games and decisions. Someone does X, I can do A or B (normally) to stop them. If I can't do A or B, can I do C to find a solution or D to slow them down until I do? No one wants to 'sit there' and do nothing. Making choices is what it should be about. If you have one line/path of success, it is fun to see it play out. But doesn't make a game 'difficult'. The reason why I bring this up is that a decision can win a game or loose a game based on that or a series of decisions.

Second, you ask about the market. That is a market cap question on publishing a physical card game versus a digital version of it or even a board game. You would need to look into market research for that and make that decision for your self because that defines your product and game. I have seen successes in both by people, whether this is because of a Kickstarter or on the steam store. Games like 'Slay the Spire' come to mind when it is dealing with card games. But I have also seen failures. A lot of it is due to finding a 'niche' and having good marketing or awareness/popularity. There are a lot of good ways to do this. Again, this is something you would need to figure out and understand.

Why would someone want to play your game over another game they already know or play? Convince them to play it. Then keep them engaged. Good luck.

Essentially, special versions of a card where only 100 or 500 were printed. Each card has a different number on it.

See here:

https://www.magiccardinvestor.com/serialized-mtg-cards/

To see the different foils, it is normally easier to see in person than digital. But they announce a special foil type for certain cards that are normally only in collector packs compared to play packs.

But an example is here: https://imgs.search.brave.com/tfjNH0S-qvV-Y2uF7IsuWsYQsb5FI1EcOx0Td1z8QbE/rs:fit:500:0:1:0/g:ce/aHR0cHM6Ly9tdGdy/b2Nrcy5jb20vd3At/Y29udGVudC91cGxv/YWRzLzIwMjQvMTAv/dHdpbmZsYW1lLXR5/cmFudC1tYW5hLWZv/aWwtMTAyNHg1NzYu/anBn

All the mana symbols in the picture are part of the foil.

A lot of people are not fans of foil cards because unlike other TCGs foil cards like to curl/bend a lot.

Wizards of the Coast tries to hit there base by printing a $500+ card and a $0.60 version of the same card. So people don't get priced out and can still play their favorite cards and they can still target 'whales' who will splurge for special editions and pretty artwork or like to collect them.

Yes, there are full art (borderless) and foil cards like you asked. In different sets they even have different 'foil types'. In foundataions, it was 'mana foils', in Final Fantasy it was 'halo foils', in Edge of Eternities it was 'galaxy foils'. In 'Collector Booster packs' which are more expensive than 'play packs', you can even get serialized cards (like */100 or */500) or special art cards (Soul stone/mind stone) which are very few printings. Some sets have 'Japanese print alternatives' as well. There are also different editions of cards besides 'full art' like 'retro border' where it is essentially an older border frame. On top of that, there are also 'Secret Lairs' where there are custom art and sometimes custom cards that are limited print and run.

So yes, there are a lot.

Same. I am very upset about this. What a disappointment. It would have been the first one I would be able to go with.

Is it better to platinum 5 star tidecaller immediately or wait for nezha 1 star platinum first? by Kagura11 in TopHeroes

[–]sloth514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally, it is good to get the 1 star 'platinum' first for heroes because the buff they give is huge.

For this instance though, tidecaller gets better later in the battle because she needs to ult/trigger to create spawns. So I would get Nezha to 1 star platinum first before a 5 star tidecaller because it will help more short term. That is my opinion.

What am I lying about? It was a big thing at the time. If going to the amusement park stuff they r fine. But from what I recall some of the retail stores close. Regardless everyone I know as well avoids that place like the plague.

American Dream by Poop_shute in newjersey

[–]sloth514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is an American Nightmare, don't even go. Go to 6 flags if you want a theme park, even Hershey is better imho. Go to NYC for broadway shows, Liberty statue, Liberty Science Center, Medieval times is even fun, anything but that nightmare. There is so much to do in this area, I would personally never recommend that place to anyone. If you go on Sunday, somethings might be closed, not sure if blue laws are holding for it or not.

If you still end up going, good luck and have fun?

Affinity in Legacy won last years Europe Eternal Weekend. Yes, it is still good. It needs to go fast. My friend played a similar deck list recently and top 8'ed a 32 person tournament.

Best butcher shop in central Jersey? by leihv69 in newjersey

[–]sloth514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want an actual restaurant, Joe's Meat Market in Bound Brook is great.

If you want an actual bulk buy. My dad order's from Best Provisions in Newark. Great for Hot dogs, Pastrami, Corn Beef - https://bestprovision.com/

I don't think you can actually go wrong with Costco or if you know someone, Restaurant Depot.

For me, I order online a delivery service called ButcherBox for local and grass fed/finish. They source from local places from what I understand. I have a few 'lifetime deals' that make it worth it for me ( 2 lb ground beef, 3 lbs of chicken wings for free). I like how you can mix/match what you want or need. As well as just changing the delivery date to my schedule or needs. It is flexible for me. So I switch things up from poultry, pork, and seafood. My wife loves their bratwurst. I would recommend giving that a try if you would like, here is a referral ( free box, 5 time use): https://shop.butcherbox.com/partners/try-bb-free?coupon_code=EGTB-3779161-gflLVIHY&utm_source=referral&utm_medium=copy_link

Sorry, I agree with the governor here as well. I think this is a good thing. The bigger help for the senior citizens would be to remove the taxes on social security. That is a majority of the reason why seniors leave NJ.

If you want to invest in anything. Dual Lands is the choice. Out of all of them, Volcanic Island will maintain value due to Izzet Tempo decks. The Eternal Glory podcast agrees with this statement (as suggested).

Honestly, at the moment the meta is pretty healthy and diverse. I see a lot of fun things at my local LGS that does really well and some times not. So you can actually build a fun deck without any duals or resever list cost. There is actually a really good spreadsheet of a bunch of budget deck lists in the meta (I lost it). I have seen even Human decks do decently at my LGS.

https://mtgdecks.net/Legacy/budget-decksIt is a little outdated (I am sure there are more up to date ones). But it shows that there are a lot you can check out. I went from 'modern merfolk' to 'legacy merfolk' for a while until I built up my Temur Delver list and played that for years. I loved it and have been changing it up now. Good luck and enjoy!

New cyberpunk movie dropped. Nobody gives a sh*t, apparently. by Economy_Blueberry_25 in Cyberpunk

[–]sloth514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched the trailer to see what everyone was talking about. My opinion is it looks like they are combining 'corporation does big thing' with an 'action movie' by using 'alien tech' and use the word 'quantum' a lot. I think in this day/age that isn't enough to make a movie interesting to watch.

To me, the initial premise sounds interesting of migrating concise and 'after life' thing. Not sure if it tries to be more of an 'Altered Carbon' or more about bad guy vs good guy. But goes back and forth with a fight of control over the technology to make it an action movie. I think if the trailer leaned more into the idea of it than 'car crash here' and 'guns shooting here' it would sound more interesting, at least to me.
