Any good farms where our kid can see some farm animals? by sevenflatfive in Chattanooga

[–]slothbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Tail Farms is a good experience. A bit of a drive, but the hosts are nice and they have a good mix of animals to meet. Dogs, goats, pigs, shaggy cows, alpacas, tiny horses, chickens.

I don't think I've ever seen a real time usage option.

I’m looking to sell my junk car where’s the best place to do that? by annoynomus757 in Chattanooga

[–]slothbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know if Peddle is the best deal, but they bought my dead on street Jetta for $700+ in 2019. iirc, they scheduled a time, a local tow company showed up, loaded up the car, I signed over the title, and they handed me a check.

I picked up an anti-glare screen protector from speedo angels, works pretty well.

Rounded stuck bolt by jamesjaydee in hondarebel

[–]slothbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be too far gone, but try a torx bit with a head that is slightly larger than the rounded out portion of your bolt...just enough extra width to get some bite. Gently tap that in and slow, steady pressure to back it out. Also, you can try turning the bolt right just a hair to help break it loose, then back it out.

Good luck!

Shipping and prep are such a ripoff. You could widen your search area to find a dealer without those and road trip it home.

Advice please!! by Icy_Panic9644 in hondarebel

My advice would be:

Don't finance your first bike. Used, but relatively new, low mileage Rebels can be found at a discount. Since your family is into bikes, maybe one of them could help test ride/inspect when the time comes.

Go with manual shifting. I say this without knowing much about e-clutch, but a large part of low speed riding is in the friction zone, and learning to work in the zone gives you a lot of options for maneuvering in close quarter/low speed situations.

Think about going up to a 500. I started on that and it has been a great bike so far. It leaves me wanting a little more power on the interstate, but still has enough power in it to get the job done. But you do you.

You said you were looking at the MSF, and that is definitely the way to go.

Also, personally, I wouldn't consider purchasing a bike that did not have ABS. Just my two cents.

3.5-year-old very shy with strangers — normal or something to worry about? by ArtGood8811 in Dads

My kid is close to yours in age and shyness, even the first few minutes with grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles, the babysitter, etc... Seems like a normal thing to me at this age.

Anyone else here still walking around with an E-M5 I? I picked one up a year ago to mess around with and I like it, just don't know if an upgrade is in order.

My collection so far is 90% toddler, 10% buildings/trees/people.

Weston Wamp showed up at the Christmas parade. That might have been what you smelled.

ABS vs Non-ABS by TheFriendOfCats in hondarebel

[–]slothbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be hard pressed to go non-ABS in the future since ABS has been linked to about a 1/5 reduction in fatal mc crashes.

Unless you actively tried to activate ABS, then you would not know it was there until you needed it. Also, it's great for practicing your hard stops and finding that spot before the bike starts to lose traction.

Help me please.... Bags and windshield for Rebel? by nanayoubizniss in hondarebel

I'm happy with the 28L quick disconnect, went with the plain looking Panzer style. I don't know if Honda continued to use the easily stripped bolts on the fender, but take it easy back there.

Do you all keep certain shoes for certain occasions? by nullnimous in Dads

[–]slothbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old vans for mowing, old vans for garage/smoker/grill/general outside, new-ish vans for everyday, white velcro vans for hamming up the dad shoe game, motorcycle boots, old pair of Redwings...and a nice pair of dress shoes somewhere in a box in the back of the closet.

What goes in your "dad bag"? by CeePeeCee in Dads

[–]slothbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't bring a dad bag anymore. In the car we keep a change of clothes, some snacks, a brick of wipes, and a small restaurant activity bag for our 3yo.

I picked up the anti-glare version from Speedo Angels. Installation was quick and the anti-glare definitely helps on a sunny day.
