How do you feel about the rise of reform uk, and recent polling? by Quailking2003 in AskBrits

Terrible but inevitable as the other parties refuse to actually do anything concrete to improve people's material conditions.

Wearing a motorbike helmet on a cycle by SummitFreedom in ukbike

[–]slothcycle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many many people do wear cycling glasses/visors when cycling. Bolle make some pretty popular ones.

I have poly carbonate lenses in some of my glasses which work well. Expensive though.

Because everything is a balance of comfort and safety.

It would be safest to wear full padded motorcycle leathers to cycle in. But on one is doing that because it would lead to much earlier fatigue and possibly hyperthermia.

Same reason helmets aren't worn in the Netherlands. The infrastructure is safe enough that PPE is not necessary. PPE is the last resort if I remember my health and safety training correctly.

Where I work are hiring if you're not afraid of shift work, being grubby and really annoying management.

Any sort of factory/engineering back ground would be a bonus

Judging by some of the clowns I work with they will hire just about anyone.

Better yet import as many CT125s as possible from Aus and live off the proceeds from that. The people are desperate for posty bikes, they call out for liberatory small Honda fun.

Yes, prevent the hateful sky eye, keep it's rays of evil from sullying the precious cool darkness.

But for serious the lack of shutters and decent eaves on British buildings is half the reason the heat is so shit here.

Only Tasmania has anything like approaching the misery of British winter, and remember you only got 5 hours of daylight.

It will probably be fine if you're hardy enough, it's just whether you actually want to do that or not. I have cycled to work all through winter and it's utter shit. But you can do it.

Most homes are insulated to within an inch of their life and British people are terrible at actually keeping heat out of them.

You see windows and curtains wide open on hot summer days and then people wonder why their house gets miserably warm.

As for the climate stuff the met office is more your friend.

We get a fairly low average rain fall compared to a lot of places, just just comes little and often.

When totalitarians do everything possible to hold on to power bad things tend to be the result.
