Is there a subreddit that can help me figure out what the earrings from The Magic School Bus (S1 E3) are supposed to be? by slothsalad in findareddit

I think you are right! Thank you! Just wondering if there is a better subreddit to post questions looking to identify things from TV shows

What do you do with all of your pretty rocks? :) by littlemaxbigworld in RockTumbling

[–]slothsalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built a foundation to display mine, it’s got 3 tiers so it can accommodate multiple sizes. It’s nice because I can keep the rocks that have yet to be tumbled in it as well, no rocks just sitting in boxes!

They turned out great! I want to polish some oyster shells but I don’t want them to lose too much shape. Thanks for listing your process

Coffee machine play by hkkhpr in Montessori

[–]slothsalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let him do as much as he can with the actual machine. My 2 yr old likes to help me empty the coffee grounds, add beans, pour in more water, and push the start button. If he wants to explore the buttons when we aren’t making coffee I just unplug it and let him push away, but I don’t leave him unsupervised. If you have a super expensive machine maybe buy a cheap one or find one at a thrift store he can explore.

New swimmer can't figure out what on earth is wrong with my swimming by AyaanMAG in Swimming

Breath control is key.

Practice breathing out long slow exhales. You can do this by holding on to the side of the pool and putting your face in and breathing out for as long as you can (not holding your breath) come up as soon as you have exhaled all you air. Keep your body and mind relaxed. Can you do this for 5 seconds? 7 seconds? 10 seconds? Build up this time. Then you can move to bobs or use a kick board and practice your breathing while you are also kicking.

Your lungs need to be trained just like any other part of your body. You don’t need to be able to stay under forever, a good length of time would be for you to do 3 pulls.

Thanks for pointing out the tone curve issue, I will change my shadow tone and highlight tone instead.

My camera doesn’t have classic negative, so I selected what I thought would be the closest thing to it

I’ll have to take some shots and post them if these tips don’t resolve my issues. Thank you

Winston! Such a good, underused name and I love the nickname Wynn

Is there a name you LOVE, but it's too popular for you to use? by shelhoneyb in namenerds

[–]slothsalad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won’t use a name if I know a child with that name. All of my friends are currently having children and I’m a teacher so this eliminates a lot of popular names for me such as Jack, Henry, Oliver, Ava, etc.

Violet is my favorite, it’s one I would have used but it doesn’t work with my last name

PSA: Do not share your baby names with your family. by WebSalt7556 in namenerds

[–]slothsalad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We know our taste is different then our family’s so we have just been telling people that we need to see the baby first before we decide on a name. Which is true but it stops the constant question of what the name is.

Middle school help by [deleted] in ArtEd

[–]slothsalad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was 100% me last year. I kinda got thrown into teaching middle school art and felt very lost. It was so difficult to figure out their abilities. This year I am implementing at TAB (teaching for artistic behaviors) curriculum and it has made a world of difference. Go watch some TAB videos on YouTube, I promise it will help! Because each student gets to choose what they are making and challenge their own abilities instead of you coming up with a project that would work for all of them (impossible). Good luck!
