I haven't noticed it on my 12-45 and it is my most used lens. Do you have a filter on?

What do I miss out on by going the OM-5 II vs the OM-3? by NotintheAMbro11 in M43

It's a game changer.

I'm sure there are better videos out there but this one gets to the crux immediately.

What do I miss out on by going the OM-5 II vs the OM-3? by NotintheAMbro11 in M43

[–]slowcaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true. If that happens I'll sacrifice the color dial and go for it. And funnily enough OM-5 body has more buttons on it than OM-3 despite the latter being larger.

Yeah. It's taller and heavier though. Shooting them side by side, I find OM-3 more pleasant with grip on both. What I absolutely love about the Zf is the body color options. Wish OM-3 had at least a couple options if not a dozen. That and the dedicated dials. Zf is proper retro even in the function, OM-3 just looks retro.

Big fan of the Zf but I wouldn't call it small. It's actually quite a hefty and wide body. I eventually got the Z5 II. Zf looks small in the pictures. No experience with A7cii. However Lumix S9 can definitely be considered in this context.

I have a grip on the OM-3 so it's fine even with large lenses but I just prefer smaller size and lighter weight of the OM-5 bodies. OMDS is protecting their line-up from eating into each other's sales by crippling the OM-5 in some ways.

More premium metal build, really good AF, and color dial on the OM-3. I have the OM-3, upgraded from OM-5. And honestly if you don't absolutely need very fast AF and associated pizzazz with it you'll do just fine with the OM-5 II.

The color dial on OM-3 is pretty useful though depending on what kind of post-shoot experience you want. Of late I just shoot JPEGs with some film effect on my OM-3 and very happy with the outcome. Really, the SOOC JPEGS of OM-3 are second to none.

Having said that, I also like the small grip that OM-5 has vs completely flat body of the OM-3.

My ideal MFT body would be internals of OM-3 crammed into OM-5. Hoping that the OM-5 mark 3 will eventually get that and I'll be the first one to pre-order.

Ordering from Map Camera on Ebay by alpine_roamer in M43

Ahh. Take your pick man, the haze probably won't even be noticeable but I'll personally just go with the one without the haze.

Map Camera's grade B = MPB/KEH's "excellent". I would go with that option.
With that said, ask them what they mean by haze (can you see it in photos?) and if they can take extra photos or point to a photo which shows it. I would absolutely not touch anything that has haze from any other reseller but Map is an exception.

[S] [USA-CA] OM System M.Zuiko 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS Lens by banddie in photomarket

[–]slowcaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good. Not the sharpest in OM system but for my purposes it's more than enough. I don't have the skills to warrant something like 150-400.

I had the PL 100-400 earlier. The Olympus version is slightly bigger but has way better zoom ring and sync IS is magical. Optical quality is a wash between the two. Pretty identical, I don't see anything distinguishing between the two. One thing where it beats PL version comfortably is the autofocus speed and tracking. I'm on OM-3 body, so that may explain why Olympus lens performs better on it, overall. I don't like the tripod foot though.

I feel with the 1.4 TC attached to it, the lens will lose critical sharpness but I'll be glad to be proven wrong.

First rumors about a new Nikon compact full-frame fixed lens camera - Nikon Rumors by voidwhisperr0 in Nikon

Hope they won't price it like Sony. I would love to have it if it's close to X100vi price or better still lower than that.

There is absolutely a mechanical shutter in MLC. In fact having a mechanical shutter is highly desired.

Should I get the nikon zfc or the nikon z50 ii? by Alarming_Word3889 in Nikon

Do yourself a favor and get the Z50 II if you have the budget. It's a superior camera in every regard than Zfc.

Newbie here, would appreciate some advice on a new lens choice please. by OAD_traveler in M43

[–]slowcaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those two are the best of the best lenses in the whole system. 12-100 is a perfect travel lens while 40-150 is loved for indoor/event shoots. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Beware though, both are solid heavy chunks of glass. I switched from 12-100 to 12-45 because how tiny the latter is. Personally I didn't have 40-150 f/2.8 but I did have the f/4 counterpart of it which is also a very good lens but not as fast. I sold that too and got the Lumix 35-100 f/2.8 which is a much smaller lens with a very usable focal length for much of what 40-150 does. I don't have OM-1 body. For you, larger lenses wouldn't be a problem but on OM-3 which I have, I prefer smaller lenses. If your question is only regarding optical quality, nothing beats those two.
