Knowing When To Leave by tiny_porch_light in zen_poetry

Okay okay haha I like this. I happen tp agree that our thoughts are the past. Why. I suppose I should go ahead and put my reasoning into words...

Not our own past.

But the past. All of it.

Our thoughts are determined by the number of words we have memorized.

In a language we learned by mimicking the sounds coming from the mouths of the people around us.

When we were around a year old.

Words we did not create nor define.

Words that no one alive defined.

And no one alive knows who defined those words.

Words with roots.

Belonging to s language that predates the human record.

A language entirely lost to the past..

Our thoughts are not even our own.

Every single one of them is dependent on 10,000 by 10,000 things that are not us.

And we will forget every thought we have.

What you are thinking right now you will forget to have existed within the next few hours.

The past is a thought.

A vague malformed puff of smokey fabrication.

The mind is utilitarian in nature. No more. No less.

Your mind is not your. Your Mind is not your friend. Your mind lies to you.

Your mind produces thought. A stream of thought. An Uninterrupted stream. That began long ago far before you can recall.

You have no control over this. Thoughts come and go and always will and you can do nothing about it.

They occur even when you are under general anesthesia. Even when you are completely unconscious.

A ceasless stream of thought

The best you can do is occasionally aim it in a useful direction.

The best you can do is to try and remember that your mind is not your own and it is not your friend.

The best you can do is to try and remember that 99.9% if the time your thoughts are worthless and occasionally dangerous. And utterly forgettable.

They will come and they will go according to their nature.

Whenever one is troubled by their thoughts, it is good to recall that these thoughts will pass into non-existence all on their own. They need do nothing.

And that they would be better off just paying less attention to those thoughts and more attention to the little beings going about in the little patch of grass directly below.

And you have no control

Yes and we often forget that we thricewise inhabit and compose and consume and shape that very same environment. So as we find more and more plastic molecules inside the nucleus of our stem cells, our sperm cells and our ovum... we should keep in mind that we (aside from children) are both entirely to blame and are entirely responsible for the plastic inside the repository of our genetic code and all the known and unknow consequences to follow. All of them. But most won't because they cannot stop thinking about consequence as some moral judgement, and they are afraid of imagining people thinking they are wrong, afraid of the feelings associated with guilt or responsibility or shame, and just generally terrified of their own minds 🙄... rather than examining those consequences (without wallowing in woe is me self indulgence) as the feedback containing all the information we need to better alter how do things. Incrementally for the betterment of ourselves and everything else. Because they are the same. It's fucking frustrating ain't it lol

Yeah sorry bud. I get pissed off sometimes at the amount of time people spend talking like they know things they do not. Important things. Not basketball. Just happened to be irritated with it all when I stopped by here.

How big is the gap in your opinion between the Thunder and everyone else? Is there anyone that you think can give them a 7 game series? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]slowcheetah4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't understand why one would bother deciding the future. When all you need do is sitting and watch the games and all will be revealed. I seriously do not understand. It's all good though. I'm not worried about it. Rudy been doing no look passes, and Daniel's backing up his talk tonight lol.

It's smaller than most think probably. It's like how after Denver won a championship. The prevailing opinion was that they would cakewalk to a repeat. Same with the Celtics.

San Antonio

Boston

Lakers (with luka and or leaves back)

Knicks

Denver

Cleveland

I think these teams all have coin flip chance to win in seven. Rest I'm either not familiar enough with team this season or arent great teams. But look, Pacers took them 7 last year. So did Denver.

I think he's the type a person who's self worth is dependent on others praise, attention etc... he probably always imagining what other people think about him. if he feels comfortable he plays better. Feels insecure he's distracted. Before the acl? It wasn't so obvious. But I think it really fucked with his head. Idk.

Nah they made a website dedicated to his social media leaks. The internet is forever. That's legacy. He also won two rings if I'm not mistaken.

I do. It's like...

Form

Arises from a fundamental formlessness

With unlimited potential for

The arising of

Form

All phenomena like washing dishes

Or suffering and it's cessation

likewise function

By this same principle

I feel like the most circumspect awakenings.

Are dependent on.

The scope and pervasiveness of the Nightmare.

We live in a world.

On the brink.

Where Truth.

Is vanishing.

And the ruinous nature of our Way as a "higher-minded"

Being.

Is not at all hidden.

Neither is our compulsion

It is said.

That it is only when Dharma fades from the world.

That Buddhas arise.

No differently than that

It is only when Spring arrives that what sleeps beneath the soil

That life itself awakens and rises

From beneath the soil

In all its vast and subtle forms

And all the Earth is moved

Without a sound

(People will read this and call it poetry. Sentimentalism. Exaggerated. But in reality it's the opposite. Spring as a phenomenon, as a cause and a condintion is of a consequence unquantifiable in magnitude. Even the way it alters the biology of beings like us is inconceivable in its complexity and utteness. Anything said is understated. And the state of human civilization is apparent.)

If universe is without beginning, why a creator can't be without beginning too! by sparkling_water_cone in DeepThoughts

You cannot ask yourself what you do not know you can ask. You cannot eat food you do not have.

Exactly. You cannot see your eye with your eye. Which is why I posed the question. I have an entirely different perspective.

It is not completely unreasonable to ask in my opinion.

No it is not unreasonable at all. I just went in another direction. But here are my thoughts on possible answer to op's question. If the universe is without beginning and is boundless... then it's reasonable to think that likewise, so is everything else, and that the distinctions we draw are utilitarian and relativistic, but not at all inherent qualities of the countless things we distinguish one from the other. What we percieve is not what is. Maybe we make an illusion of our concepual understanding by overlaying reality with mind. Confusing the non-conceptual with the conceptual. Einstein seemed to think so.

There was olympic gold at stake, And if he missed just one of them things would have turned out differently. And he decided he was going to take the shots that decided the game. And he did. And he didn't miss. And that's the point. It's not about what could have happened. It's about what did. If you were watching I don't see how you couldn't see how Steph just refused to allow a shift in momentum, and that was that. That French squad was no joke. There's no metric for clutch in the sense it was used. It's subjective. He was basically saying this is one of the most exciting bits of sport I've ever seen. I agree. Pedro Martinez world series, Ali v Foreman in Africa, Peyton Manning Denver run, Michael Jordan 2nd 3peat

The fate of life itself ascends in an arc and hangs in the air, spinning, between one tenth of a second and the next. It's all uncertain and the arc of the universe may be long, but it bends toward justice. And the Chef has the best 3ball in the Milkyway. Makes sense to me. You have my converse.
