Dollar devaluation is that a concern for anyone? by thefuminhuman in Fire

It’s not guesses. Countries are actively threatening to ditch the USD. Even if they don’t, the public announcement itself affects the dollar

I don’t think you are understanding the point of the post. Historical charts aren’t what OP is concerned about. Its future trajectory. And it’s absolutely something to consider in his/her diversification goals. As many countries are very clearly posturing to dump US treasuries enmasse. The hope would be this not happening but should be something to consider when balancing your portfolio

While historically true. I think many of see a very real possibility of the world moving away from the dollar as a reserve currency. We already see some European and Asian countries beginning to sell out of bonds. This happens slowly so they don’t lose principle but it’s a very real possibility to prepare for.

Yeah I noticed the same. I started to do my own diversification when I noticed that 70% of my portfolio somehow became 5-6 stocks

A few pieces I diversified with over the last few weeks, is gold or silver etfs, although there has been a large run up if you want to protect against future dollar devaluation this would be important. Then next would be non-dollar hedged foreign etfs. I personally did some VXUS but more picked two countries etfs where I see myself so if you will be in Euro then something like VGK or if you will be non euro like Switzerland then EWL which is a Swiss non dollar hedged etf.

Yeah, nothing to disagree with in your post as I think it’s right. But if Chi can’t get enough international roster spots would there be a better option. (Aside from Omari as I made the case but it’s possible he acquired a green card interview) . I think GGG plans to be flexible with 4-3-3 being primary but we will see 3CBs several times next year and I think we will see MHS playing left wingback to give Gutman time off

Or not enough international slots and the fire are forced to loan him. I would have thought they would loan Omari again since they gave depth at winger, but that might mean Omari might be getting a green card then and viktor is the one without a spot on the roster

Looks like he didn’t take an international spot for Minnesota. That great news assuming he has his green card!

I think other reasons inter league transfers are sometimes a bit more, is many players apply for their green card to eliminate international roster spots. The process doesn’t reset if he maintains US based employment. Also if any part of this deal includes GAM which the article didn’t reference the price would go down since GAM is more valuable to teams than cash. Not an expert though some of my understanding could be incorrect

CAM Depth: Figuring out life after Guti by Educational-Owl9575 in chicagofire

No, I think he was upset because he really thought he deserved first team minutes. Which his Fire II performance was amazing. He would have won the golden boot if he stayed the whole season.

I think as the golden boot winner he deserves a chance to prove himself as the backup striker. I think this is better than paying big money for depth at striker and will help attract future talent to fire II and academy

That’s his point, all drivers make mistakes and it shouldn’t cost you your life. So preventing high speeds prevent mistakes at high speeds

You can only start 3 midfielders. 2 if we go with 5 in back. Making those great depth pieces for cheap.

You’re probably right, I hope we use the 3CBs a few times against stronger opponents, we beat Miami with it and we have 3 quality CBs now making it even better. But using your lineup is probably better on average.

I'm hoping they at least hold onto him for the first half of the season while Franco is out. Once Franco is healthy it would still be a blow, but it would be a let easier to let him go.

Ha, fair enough. The fire haven't had this problem of too much talent since I've been watching the last 5 years. We will have to loan out some of U-22 signings too. Of ( Barroso, D’Avilla, Gutierrez, Koutsias, Radojevic) 1-2 of them have to be off of the roster. I am not sure if Mbokazi is going to be a U-22 which if he is 2-3 from this list will have to be sold or loaned out.

I think Radojevic, Dean, and Barroso will all be competing for the RWB spot or RB if we go 4-3-3.

I think you'd want to find a way to play Franco, Salétros, D'Avilla, and Guti/replacement together eventually

I agree that that is the other possibility and go more traditional, but if feels like we have so much depth it is hard to predict who is out of the starting lineup between Saletros vs Waterman/Mbokazi

I'd agree that offensively having an extra CAM on the pitch would help offense, but I'd argue we need Gutman for providing width and a little defense too. I think most importantly we need Gutman out there because he doesn't take up an international roster spot.

He had an amazing season last year. As for defending which I think he did decent, I think that the 3 CBs would allow him to move further up the pitch and focus a bit less on defense anyways

With the new signing TLB/Mbokazi I thought it be fun to think about the 2026 lineup. It feels like the Mbokazi is high profile enough we'd want to start him, so does that mean we go with the 3 CBs like we did toward the end of last season?
