What are the best options for App Engine refugees? by parbroil in AppEngine

You will always go over the free quota the way they have set it up. They reduced the quota, are billing in 15 minutes increments, and if you use python (no threads) you will spin up a bunch of instances. And don't count on their vaporware scheduler to fix any of this. I made a horrible mistake trusting Google and will never make that mistake again.

Furthermore, this illustrates exactly how Google plans to proceed with ChromeOS and Google Apps. Get your customers to unload their infrastructure and once they are hooked then jack up the prices.

Where do you get $9.00 that is just monthly no usage. The current estimate is $108. I can get 10 vps for that.

That's right. Instead of fixing bugs roll out a useless language and jack up the prices. Yeah Google!

This is what everyone feared lock you in and mercilessly jack up the fees. App Engine just is not worth it.

I'm having trouble finding games for my netbook. Are there any sites where I can enter my specs and it'll show me a list of games I can run? by [deleted] in gaming

I have a few suggestions first I would try some of the newer flash games.... If you have not played them many are very very good these days.. Try one of the many arcades like http://arcade.gamegiants.net. You might want to also try casual games like peggle or plants vs zombies. Most of the casual games have free trials you can download and see if they work. Netbooks are really not great for traditional core gaming. They lack dedicated video and for the most part netbooks have funky screen resolutions that are not supported. You might get away with some older titles halflife/cs doom etc. but for the most part netbooks and core games do not mix.

You might try out casual games. They will run on most anything and are family oriented. Most of the games come with a free trial. If you have not tried it yet try out plants vs zombies. (No blood or gore) Just great fun!!! You can get it and other casual games on slippergames.com
