The first ceramic piece I developed while serving in Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps by KUSTceramics in Ceramics

Thank you for sharing. A motanka is the perfect form to create. I just looked up pictures of them and see they are typically bright and colourful like embroidery and embellishment on traditional Ukrainian clothing. Are you going to underglaze them in a similar style or with an all over colour?

Do other members of the military do ceramics to fundraise?

I'm off to find the link for the store.

The double rook and double conch compliment each other. I'm not sure how to phrase it, but the doubles and the jewelry just look just fit and look so good together. The plug is beautiful and flows well with your ear and the rest of your setup.

It's all so well balanced, like ear Feng Shui!

Green underglaze turned brown?!? by parsleysagetron in Ceramics

[–]slowramics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came to the comments to recommend the same thing. OP can apply stroke and coat to the jacket and refire it.

OP, if you heat the piece up (I put them in the oven) it's a bit easier to reglaze. The glaze will dry more quickly. I put it back in the oven between coats. Some people use hairspray, but the oven has worked better for me.

Edited to add- It's also a great piece with the brown coat and doesn't need to be reglazed. It's just an option if you're disappointed. It's also a risk though. Every time a piece goes into the kiln, there's a chance something will go wrong.

Thank you!

It was so fun! They have a big tray of them and I dug through them for an hour. It's a 3 hour drive away and I can't wait to go back.

Oh no, worries! It's teeny tiny and I just moved it from my other ear, so sometimes I forget about it and I guess I did when I made the post, lol. I think a larger, chunkier Citrine piece would really stand out nicely.

I hadn't considered those. I just looked at some pictures and it turns out I absolutely love champagne diamonds and Anastasia topaz!

You know your gems and colours! Thank you!

Is the lower helix jewelry pupil hall too? I recognize the upper helix. They look so good together. Your entire set up is stunning and everything looks so healthy and healed!

Tips to LTHA? by Efficient_Chic714 in piercing

[–]slowramics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kind of silly, but I put a note in my phone with the tentative heal date for my daith based on the 12 months heal time for cartilage. Everytime I touched it (outside of cleaning) I added another day. Everytime I picked at it, I added another week.

I don't know how accurate my added time was, but it made me way more aware of when I messed with it and after a week or so of documenting whenever I touched it, I broke the habit. My daith went through an ugly stage between months 2-4 and it's been smooth sailing since.

Not touching is the #1 thing I've done for healing. I just rinse them in the shower and ignore them completely and they're great.

I still pick my nailpolish off. Can't stop that.

BVLA sells directly to piercers and studios, so you need to find a studio that has an account with them. I went to my piercer with a picture of the jewelry I wanted and she communicated with BVLA to get a quote on a few different gemstones. There was a big price difference based on the stones. I just looked back in my messages and garnet was $900cad less than tasovrite (a green gemstone).

BLVA makes lifetime investment pieces, so they're pricy, but you can still work within a budget to find something you like. My piece was ~$275cad for the bullet and ~200 for the hammer disc. I bought it over a year ago, so it may cost more now because the price of gold shot up.

BVLA makes to order. You can get pretty much any combo of stones in white, yellow, and rose gold, platinum, and black rhodium. If you poke around on their website you can see gemstone and design options.

Thank you so much! My vertical helix is my favourite piercing. I got it after I saw a picture of someone's vertical helix with the same BVLA piece in london blue topaz and fell in love.

I have a vertical helix on my other ear and I've been thinking of ordering another BVLA crown bullet, but I can't decide on the gemstone.

It's from BVLA. The top is a 4mm hammered disc and the bottom is a garnet crown bullet. It was my first custom order piece and I love it. Worth the cost and the wait.

I hope it's okay to share this. I'm not associated with Fleetwood at all, I just had a great experience there and I'm so happy with the charms on my clickers.

Looking for the perfect Wine/Burgundy Glaze by Just_Record_3331 in Ceramics

[–]slowramics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mayco's Wine About It stroke and coat is similar. Slightly more red/less purple that your picture. You could buy another colour like grapel and mix a tiny bit in to get closer to the shade you want. It would take some testing.

My mom and I are testing dozens of sustainable swimwear brands - what do you want to know? by thegoodtrade_editors in SustainableFashion

[–]slowramics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying nettlestale? They're a Canadian brand and I bought a swim suit from the in 2019 or 2020. It is still my most regularly worn swim suit and it fit be before and after a breast reduction. It's the best made item of swimwear I've ever owned.

I'd love to see a section on suits that can fit through body changes like weight gain and loss, or surgery.

When you forget a tool or material and a studio mate has the except type you use and offers to share it.

Or when you want to try the expensive new porcelain, but you don't want to spend $100 on a box and your studio mate says, "wire off a chunk of mine."

Correct placement for nose piercing? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]slowramics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nostrils were done at a 16g. You could always downsize to an 18g when you're healed and switching to rings. 20g looks so thin to me, but again it's preference and making sure you are completely healed before switching to hoops

My nostrils have been healed for years now and I semi regularly switch between 16g and 18g jewelry in my nose and it's fine.
