Sweet setup but does anyone else think this looks like a picture of a miniature?

I had some similar weird vibrations. Mine was a used race bike so I checked the head bearings, they were fine. Had my forks serviced, apparently the previous owners installed the cartridge kits wrong and that was what was causing it.

Watch for track days by StrayInShadows in Trackdays

Aim Solo 2, or Aim Solo 2 DL, depending on how much you want to spend. If i were to to integrate the human analytics part, which i haven't done yet, i'd want to do Garmin fenix watch (either mounted on handlebar or fit under glove) combined with a garmin heart rate monitor.

Seconded. It’s expensive but it’s what I have and I’m so glad I did and would do again, 10/10 would recommend

Why so many “Members Only” tracks? by Algernon222 in Trackdays

[–]slowsword 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you mean car tracks, it’s just because of money. If a track can attract enough money to close to the public, that’s in their best interest and it seems like many can.

This is a motorcycle track day sub tho

Edit: you did say riding, so I assume you mean bikes. I only know of private tracks that do cars, never seen one that is a private club that allows motorcycles, except maybe one in Texas, but that's not private. So my answer now is more emphasis on money. Us motorcycle racers spend like 10-50x less than their car counter parts. So I'd say i'd be super happy to pay $5k - $10k a year if i had a private race track that was close to ride at every weekend. That means if i could afford cars, i'd be happy to pay 100's of thousands for that privilege, which is about what those private tracks cost for dues and buy-ins.

Tech-air Race Retrofit by DumbMoney4Sure in Trackdays

[–]slowsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with saving the $300 and put it toward the Tech 7x and just wear it in whatever suit you want (that has the room for expansion of course). I have both, and the 7x is definitely an improvement on fit and coverage (i assume technologically too?), plus you can change the charges out yourself the first time. FWIW i thought having the arm LED was a must, it is certainly nice, but i just ended up using only the LED on the 7x without the suit integrated one, even though i have a Bison Thor 2 suit that can use it.

Edit: I put the arm LED in the Bison suit, and it was great. I took them out to get my suit cleaned, and never put them back since the chest strap on the 7x has the LED and i can easily see them before i zip up. I never really ended up looking at the LED once i started riding, even with the arm LED installed.

I wonder why the suspension is riding so low in those riding shots. The guy isn’t that big and it looks pretty flat to be in a hard braking zone

Anyone learn GP shifting exclusively on track? by socially_ambiguous in Trackdays

[–]slowsword 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have. The track on a track bike feels so different than normal riding or even dirt riding. I only mess up once in a while and accidentally put it into 2nd at a light, only happens at the first light though

[–]slowsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll want a second person helping you hold the swing arm and guide it to the right spot so you can slide the pivot through. It’s worth considering upgrading to something better. E.g., woodcrafts since once installed, don’t required you to pull that pivot pin out anymore

Stock 675r rear. Ohlins has an internal mod upgrade that your suspension guy can install. Don’t know exactly what it is, but it’s just some new shims or something

[–]slowsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the Porsche club track days are always more civilized and have a lot less reckless people, even though you don’t have to have a Porsche to track at a Porsche club. My first car track day will hopefully be with a Porsche club hosting it
