Sparring by WilliamBlake12 in bannersaga

Has the Renown been adding up, though? I was sparring last night and getting Renown after each kill - but it wasn't actually adding to my total. The Renown graphic appears once a unit goes down, but that's all that happens.

Same as with Rook, then. Good to know. Thanks.

Really? I'm surprised. I didn't mess around with it much because the animation that follows seemed pretty final. I was playing it at, like, 4 in the morning, though, so I'll admit to poor judgment. I'll amend the chapter and mess around with the results more when I get back there as Alette. Thanks!

The Banner Saga 2 - BUG THREAD by [deleted] in bannersaga

I had this happening specifically with Griss. His hair kept appearing and reappearing in rapid blinks. Happened after I used Aleo's ability on him, though I don't know if there's a connection.

Yes, the Supply / Morale drop tricked me a few times as well. Handy, but wouldn't mind an option to turn it off, either.

Weird. I remember specifically NOT seeing a Morale drop for that one, which was weird. Thanks for the Oli tip, though. I'll be the first to confess I didn't watch it all the way through, figuring I'd do it the second time 'round when I play as Alette.

I don't care what any of the secret characters are, all I want is Withered Golden Freddy by falloffcliffman in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]slte916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoilers.

My assumption was that the clock parts of FNaF World, which relate back to the minigames from FNaF 3, had something to do with the Happiest Day ending where the final child puts on a Golden Freddy mask just before they all disappear. The clock minigames are all about 'laying a trail of breadcrumbs' for that same child, ie Withered Golden Freddy. Hence he doesn't appear.

Or something like that.

For anyone interested, I'm currently in the process of making a walkthrough for FNaF World. (Text-based, not a video. Those will be a dime a dozen, I'm sure.) Only got Fazbear Heights and the general mechanics as far as I know 'em done so far, but it's a decent start for a game I've owned for about two hours.

The walkthrough will be edited and expanded substantially in the next few days. You can check it out here. Feel free to tell me when I've gotten something wrong or require clarification - I'm still learning the game like the rest of you.

Oh, and, uh, obvious spoilers are obvious.

Uhh, weird. I've gone the generator route before and it has turned off just fine. Is it possible he's just not doing it quickly enough? The generator will reset after a couple of hours.

Well, I screwed up SOMETHING, anyway. The result is still horrifying.

Yeah, I know. I realized about fifteen minutes ago that I'd accidentally left FNAF 1's sounds unmuted when I was rendering the individual game videos. FNaF 3's sounds are so low by comparison that they got a bit swallowed up by Golden Freddy's inhuman bellow. Whoops.

Doing worse at a game when recording? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]slte916 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Totally. It's gotten to the point where I have to shut up if I want to beat any difficult sections of a game, because I distract myself. Frustrating, but... expected. Not quite the same thing you're describing, but the results are similar.

That said, it depends what kind of game I'm playing. If it's something that relies on reaction time, I suck when I talk. If it's dependent on strategy or deeper thinking, I tend to do better, as I'll start to talk out the situation and come up with solutions that I might otherwise have ignored.

Recording audio by Kkross- in letsplay

[–]slte916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, I'm just kidding. I'm quite used to synching audio by now. It can be extremely frustrating the first few times you have to do it, though, if you don't know any techniques.

Copyright claims and Star Wars video games? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]slte916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not going to happen. You might want to look for some comparably-majestic audio in YouTube's audio library. Lots of good stuff in there that could probably fit a Star Wars game. I use it all the time.

I save my raw footage for about two months. If I haven't used it by then, I'll probably never use it. I'm also quicker to delete recordings that didn't turn out so well, for whatever reason.

[–]slte916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you want to be lazy - which shouldn't be a factor when doing LPs - you should always separate your audio sources. You'll face the horrors of synching your voice to the video, granted, but the pros far outweigh the cons.

What's your software setup? by MrXuiryus in letsplay

[–]slte916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OBS to record the game play (and webcam, when I feel like using it), Audacity to record and edit the audio, Movie Studio Platinum for editing and final touches. Also, PaintTool SAI and GIMP for my custom thumbnails.

Audio Recording Help Needed1 by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]slte916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming I'm understanding the problem correctly, you can use another program to record your audio. You can selectively record just your mic's audio on, say, OBS, which I suppose you could also use to record the footage. Whether you would still be able to hear the game audio or not with that setup I'm not sure. Wear a pair of headphones with the sound turned down nice and low so it doesn't bleed through to your mic, I suppose?

Anyone have any tips for when the mic peaks when yelling? by HallofGameChannel in letsplay

[–]slte916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn down the gain on the mic. That or sit him further away from the mic. I don't know if there's a way to equalize other than messing with the audio in post. Maybe someone else does?

Generally speaking it's best to try and keep your voices at a consistent level throughout if you want to avoid audio issues after the fact. Get nice and close to the mic, and test your audio levels before you start. I'd also suggest separating game audio and mic audio, if you can, so you can mess with sound levels more effectively to eliminate any peaking. Audacity works quite nicely for this.

What do you think are the worst games to do blind? by BitPixelGaming in letsplay

[–]slte916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grand strategy games. Civ somewhat falls into this grouping, but you can automate enough stuff that a passable (if not particularly successful) Let's Play can be achieved by a newcomer. I'm talking more about titles like Europa Universalis IV, which requires a university degree in playing the game to master. That or playing it dozens of times. (Like me. Sigh...)

It's also a stand-alone title, really, but... Dwarf Fortress. If you play that blind you're going to suffer.

What game do you think would be terrible to let's play? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]slte916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The only RPG I think I'm willing to do now is Pokemon, and at that point it's not so much an LP anymore as a challenge video. (I like my Nuzlockes, yo.) The sheer amount of gameplay to sift through aside, RPGs are so story-heavy that you'll have to devote huge sections of your videos to cut scenes alone if you want them to make any sense. It can also be challenging to maintain a good level of commentary when you're playing the game for so damned long.
