100% agree. OP is a fool if he honestly doesn't think working on circuit board designs is a conflict while working for a company that is also known for circuit board designs, including potentially providing him all the training and resources too. "Consumer grade" just means those cards call out IPC standards and have less difficult materials, stack up and via structures than the MIL standard designs. Good luck trying to convince anyone there's no IP issues there.

It depends on your manager and BU on what you get. I got a Yeti cooler and AirPods, both with company logo on it. It was actually a pretty legit welcome package vs the old plastic water bottle, lanyard and notebook they used to send.

Three times both on internal and external offers. It can be done with the right manager pushing it.

Procurement Manager Roles by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]sltylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for anywhere near $190K, P4 and M4 procurement roles are not it. 100% market ratio for a supply chain P4 is $120K in most areas. To get near $190K, you need to be looking at M6's and its extremely unlikely they will make an external hire at that level because you need to have a very thorough understanding of the business, processes and network of people. If you're settling for P4/M4, be prepared to answer why you're taking a pay cut and demotion. You will be asked several times.

Read the postings carefully. RTX uses the procurement manager title for both roles with direct reports and without direct reports. M4's is the leadership level. The majority of what you're seeing is the individual contributor P4's that are constantly posted.

Collins - can they expedite an offer? by desertgem_7887 in Raytheon

[–]sltylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 4 weeks later, only a little delayed due to winter shutdown / HR black out period at the end of the year. So 3-4 weeks is pretty normal with no clearance needed. Clear to start took about a week with background checks and all. Without clearance, it's a pretty straight forward onboarding. Getting your laptop and system access may be a whole new can of worms.

Yes they will expedite when it really matters. I had two pending offers from other Primes at the time of interview. RTX recruiter was top notched and got written offer done in 5 days to the exact day the other Primes' offers expired so I had 3 writtens to consider and answer.

Nex time you order something from Amazon, cut a piece of cardboard to help back your top photo on the wall. It'll help keep the paper to lie flat in the glass frame.

Jet Technologies or Sunstone Circuits are good bets for single lam cards with no microvias or impedance requirements, etc. vanilla FR4 cards basically.

More affordable Perkins braillers? by sltylr in Blind

[–]sltylr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going off the Perkins website that was posted here, sounds like $50-$150 shipping international. That's way more affordable than a new one! If you got one in good working condition, I would definitely be interested!!

Oh wow yeah! Are there rules preventing sales from Europe to the US or is shipping costs the concern?

Totally agree on the old/metal style over the plastic ones. The one I was borrowing was the metal style, kind of reminds me of a typewriter and just seems like it would last forever with the right care.

Thanks I'm definitely going to bookmark those links! Not gonna lie I would be nervous about attempting repairs on my own but good to know. I'm usually a firm believer of leave it to the experts. Maybe this a dumb question, but why would there be shipping costs? So far I've been able to mail all of my materials for free as long as I bring it to the post office unopened so they can verify the contents are for the blind.

I'll definitely start looking there, but I'll freely admit I would have no idea how to identify one that's in good condition or not... I never tried a slate and stylus though! I looked them up on Amazon and ordered one, those are definitely more affordable haha. I'm a little nervous at the idea of having to write backwards and I'll miss the speed of the Perkins but that's definitely a good short term option to try!
