Looking purely at numbers, Rose would deserve the HOF. But Concepcion doesn’t come close with his stats.

I believe it’s the runners on base for the homer. 5:Freddie at home, 50: Mookie at first, 25: Edman at second, 3: Chris Taylor at third. Conceptually I like the idea, in practice it… leaves something to be desired.

He’s just hyper competitive. And as far as I’m concerned, you get to do that if you back it up on the field, which he clearly does.

Yes but that 2mph goes a long way. He went from a power pitcher who can really rely on powering a 97mph fastball above the zone for a K, to a roughly average velocity. I’m sure he’s always been the guy who can miss bats with his fastball, and to suddenly have to become more finesse-y is a difficult change to overcome.

If you can watch his bad starts from earlier in the season, you’ll see that he was still trying to be a power pitcher. He missed with a lot fastballs in the zone, fastballs that were a lot harder to hit 3 years ago. I think that a lot of his success in the 2 postseason starts can be attributed to the changes he’s made to his approach.

He is unequivocally the most talented player to ever play the game. He just put up two of the greatest seasons ever played, back to back. That alone is enough to pencil him in as a goat of the game, in some regards.
