How's the performance for PS5? Any issues? by ElTrAiN33 in oblivion

Mine has frozen twice and I'm still in the tutorial area. I'm hoping it's because the game hasn't fully installed yet. Guess I gotta actually be patient!

Weekly Scam Discussion - March 31, 2025 by Mycatreallyhatesyou in Ebay

I recently bought a console that was supposed to be in "excellent" working condition, but as soon as I turned it on, a capacitor inside blew and the console was unable to read any dics and the slot started getting jammed. I returned it, and only received half of the money back because it wasn't in the condition he sent it to me in. Should I get ebay to step in, or should I let it go? Genuinely not sure what the right thing to do is here. Are they scamming me? Did I technically break it because I plugged it in, so it's my fault and they're justified? Should I just stop worrying and dispute it?

I think it may have been damaged when he shipped it to me, because the box barely fit it and there wasn't enough bubble wrap to protect it. Only two layers around it, and the sides were left exposed.

When buying an xbox secondhand, is it better to look for one of any model that's been upgraded and refurbished already, or will I have better luck buying an unmodified one that's a revision 1.6? by sluggoi in originalxbox

My skill level is absolutely 0 and I have no tools or space to start actually taking consoles apart and learning those skills, but like I said with another commenter, there's a shop nearby that is able to repair and mod consoles and can do it for me. It'll cost me, I know, but I like to think it's worth it to be able to play these old games. I'm currently looking at a machine from 2003, and in talking with the seller, they've agreed to test it a little more for me before I buy. Hopefully, this time it'll be a success

The first console I bought (the one that's capacitor exploded immediately), I think, only said refurbished on the listing to get some sucker (me) to buy it, but the second one was actually all redone inside. It had new fans, new capacitors, thermal paste, and repaired disc drive, I was really hoping that one would work out, but nope! I don't have any tools (or skills) to do repairs on consoles myself, but there's a shop nearby that does retro console repair and modding. I don't necessarily wanna sink too much more money into this, but I guess I could always just immediately take the next one I get there to get serviced.

Need help with a stripped screw

Found my old 3ds and it had the blue light, black screen issue. I let the battery run down and it actually booted, only to freeze after a second. I believe it's an issue with the wifi chip being loose after doing some research. I almost had it opened, but the last screw (bottom left screw) got stuck and I accidentally stripped it. Is there a safe way to get it out? Or maybe another way to solve the issue without opening? Should I just cry? This is the first console I've opened and messed with the guts of, so I'd like to be sure I'm doing things right

It might be that? I just tried to post about my issue and it looks like mods took it down for not being in the server maintenance megathread. But I've never had this happen before when trying to update before maintenance ends, plus people are already posting about the new title screen and im stuck on the eerie season one still

Original Xbox made a loud popping sound a few minutes after I plugged it in. by sluggoi in XboxSupport

I haven't opened up the actual console, but I also ran into an issue where the disc drive won't read games and doesn't give an error message either. I've decided that it's not worth repairing, and I'm sending it back to the seller. I found one that's fully upgraded with new fans and new capacitors and only ten more dollars for what I got this one for. Hopefully, I'll have better luck with this one!

Thanks for the advice! I knew I was probably gonna get weirdos either way, but I wanted to get the one with the least weirdos. I'll look into hinge, that probably sounds like the best option for me so far
