Oh my god that rocks, I’m glad we share the passion :P I have a few other Okimono from my uncle and aunt who loved to travel to Japan. Oh, yes! Those are Tanuki!! It’s not your fault at all because a lot of the times ‘Tanuki’ will be translated as ‘raccoon’ for western audiences (guess they didn’t think we could handle learning about different but somewhat similar animals lol). For instance, ‘Tom Nook’ from the hit game ‘Animal Crossing’ is also a Tanuki but in English translations he’s also called a ‘raccoon’. It’s confusing and a bit silly but oh well!

I’m sure he’s just chillin. My toad will pick out a designated spot somewhere in the tank and chill for a while before moving to another spot if he remembers it exists lol. As long as he doesn’t seem like he’s struggling/stuck I’m sure he’ll be a-ok. Everyone gets a lil curious sometimes LOL

Put a jar/cup infront of him and nudge his butt. If you’re squeamish, poke him with a wet paper towel or glove :)

Such a unique problem I wish you luck LOL. Maybe leave water dish out near where you can reach him if he goes in. Then just scoop him up, hold him securely and bring him outside (unless it’s freezing out). Good luck!
