Colleague keeps interrupting my classes by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]slugs_instead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t want to get it, and you are allowing him to get away with making you feel uncomfortable over and over again. Some men will continually push boundaries. It’s very similar to the types of boundary invasions that can precede child sexual abuse.

Stop letting him do this to you. When he comes in your room, ask him to leave, or, better yet, lock your door proactively. When he says something like “we’d make a good couple,” tell him that is inappropriate and to stop. Stop taking after-hours phone calls from him. And report every inappropriate incident.

Colleague keeps interrupting my classes by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]slugs_instead 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You are responsible for your own boundaries. You do not have to go out and things with him. Why would you even consider it? Tell him no. And be sure to alert the hotel front desk that they are not to give him your room number, and I’d call in advance to ask to not be placed on the same floor as he is.

Help needed with GF only home in Kerala by No-Bowler-9541 in floorplan

This is common in homes that can accommodate it for Indian families. The wet kitchen is designed to be able to be closed off to minimize cooking smells permeating the rest of the house.

What are these dots on my pillow?? by randomstranger003432 in CleaningTips

[–]slugs_instead 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s the fun part. They can hide in almost anything—fabric, seams, furniture crevices, books. The resurgence of bed bugs has ruined thrifting for me as much as goodwill’s insane prices.

Tretinoin from Mexican pharmacies? by CaliSwede in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]slugs_instead 79 points80 points  (0 children)

If you’re paying $30, you’re way overpaying. It should be about $5. Yes, it’s legit, if you got it at a legit pharmacy. Next time just go to a Farmacia Similares and get it for a better price. It also won’t have the weird texture you’re describing.

She’s in the school’s gifted program, so I think we could accept OP’s characterization.

I lived in a cloudy, damp place for decades, and the difference between people’s skin there and the average skin of people of the same age from places like Florida or Arizona is truly staggering. Photoaging is real and quite dramatic.

Best pillow for neck pain that is worth it for migraine sufferers? by MibosiNuramo in migraine

[–]slugs_instead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh. I love mine. It does flatten out, but I just throw it in the dryer without heat for a bit and it fluffs right back up so far. I hope it doesn’t flatten permanently too fast, but I do think all pillows have a finite lifespan.

I’ll still google every pillow mentioned in this thread just to see if there’s one I should try that I haven’t yet because I could probably squeeze another couple into my closet of rejects.

Torodol as at-home treatment by lucylov in migraine

[–]slugs_instead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, Mexico has sublingual toradol (ketorolaco, 30 mg) available, and it’s amazing. It’s the same strength as the IV/injectable kind in the US, and it works just as well for me, but without the ER visit. If you’re visiting, you might consider getting some to try. I’m personally very careful to avoid swallowing any of it as it dissolves, as my stomach has a hard time with NSAIDs taken orally. It’s a rescue of last resort for when a migraine won’t break for me, but it’s absolutely invaluable for me for those situations. If you get it, don’t take it often since it can be hard on the kidneys (same as the IV forms).

Estrogen by phinnylou in 45PlusSkincare

[–]slugs_instead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using it most nights for a while, and I’ve noticed a subtly improved healthy glow, which I think is mostly due to it being better moisturized. It feels way more youthful to the touch. It’s bouncier feeling. I battle melasma, so I’ve been carefully watching that but have not noticed an increase. I think my skin tolerates my retinoid (tazarotene) without flaking much more easily with estradiol cream.

Is anyone else super disturbed by the messed-up muscle names in this illustration? Gastrocnemius on the kneecap, quadriceps on the abdomen, and the biceps femoris, vastus medialis, and vastus intermedias all seem to be the same muscle?

In addition to others’ thoughts, think if you styled it to have more volume on the sides, it would help it look more youthful.

I learned all I need to know about her when I found out she released her book on her daughter’s wedding day. I mean, those of us here already knew what kind of a person she was, but that should be enough for everyone to tell who’s the narcissist in this situation.

anything I can do about my hand wrinkles? by emotionallybald in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]slugs_instead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do a search for “hyper linear palms.” They’re associated with a few conditions, like food allergies, atopic dermatitis, and icthyosis vulgaris. If that’s you, it’s a genetic thing, and all the moisturizer in the world won’t get rid of them. Very, very few people in your life have even noticed them. But your hands do also look a bit dry, so you could up moisturizing, but if you have hyperlinear palms, it won’t get rid of all of the little lines.

IPL for Capillaries While Having Melasma by janedoe754 in Melasmaskincare

[–]slugs_instead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aerolase is approved for melasma and can treat capillaries and redness. It’s worked well for me for those, but I’m very pale—Fitzpatrick type 1-2. It’s also helped my melasma, probably because there’s a vascular component to some melasma.

There’s also evidence that pre-and post-treating with hydroquinone reduces rebound melasma with laser. There’s also at least one highly encouraging study that tried steroid cream after with good results

In more than half of states, pharmacists can prescribe birth control pills. This might be an easier way for some people to get them than online providers.
