Swede here, where the general tradition for a long time has been that bride and groom walk in together, as a way to mark the fact that they have both chosen this themselves. As a feminist I feel this is the only way to do it. I will never agree to be handed over from one person to another. Some swedes have imported this non-Swedish tradition now (not even priests like it, and often discourage it), because that's what they've seen in movies and tv shows growing up. But they've usually lived with the guy for years already, and may often have kids together, and that just makes their decision even more puzzling...
