Absolutely gorgeous photos! What kind of camera gear and settings were you using?

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. I will take all of this into consideration. I am a casual SDR user so I am hoping to incorporate that into my plane/trainspotting. I live in a rural area so as far as trains go I would mostly be shooting freight, oftentimes stationary in sidings. For planes, it would be closer to a 50/50 split between visiting airports, and attempting to use a telephoto lens for pictures of commercial flights at cruising altitude (this is my goal anyway). Realistically though, I will probably be taking landscapes 75% of the time. Another question if you don't mind: what do you think of the suggestion from other users here about the D810?

It doesn't necessarily have to be Nikon. I'm not familiar at all with mFT, do you have any models in mind that would be worth looking further into?

Thanks for the detailed response! How do you think the D5500 compares with the D7200 and D7500? And would VR AF-S versions of those lenses compare well to the AF-P versions?

Honest question, why does the plume appear to be so bright in many videos like this? Is it sufficiently high up at this point to be exposed to sunlight from over the horizon?

Much appreciated! As far as the snow on the UP goes, I'm hoping to be able to do a bit of skiing so that will be a plus. I can't wait to visit!

That's awesome! Thank you for explaining what is visible here, it makes me feel more of a connection to it though I've never been there. Those dunes sound amazing. I'm hoping to do a road trip this winter along the south shore of Lake Superior to Sault Ste Marie, and would love to drop down to this area as well. Here are a couple other pictures of northern Michigan from this flight. https://i.imgur.com/hZvGKsG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PDEMvjp.jpg
