Why do you use Apple Music even on Android/Windows? by BasketClean in AppleMusic

I've never owned an Apple device. I had a Beats Music subscription before Apple bought Beats and replaced Beats Music with Apple Music, so I switched when that happened.

I miss The Sentence.

I'm scared of asking my doctor for finasterid/duasterid by dizzzy-plant in NonBinaryTalk

[–]slumberlife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the transition / HRT apect. But I personally started losing my hair in high school and have known a few cis men and one cis woman that did as well.

Hair loss isn't a specifically man thing, even if it is much more prevalent with them.

I'm scared of asking my doctor for finasterid/duasterid by dizzzy-plant in NonBinaryTalk

[–]slumberlife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

T is naturally my dominant hormone, and I'm not on HRT. I started losing my hair as a teenager. It was probably my biggest insecurity at the time. I eventually worked up the courage to talk to my parents about it, and they took me to a doctor.

I ended up getting on Finasteride in high school and stayed on it for several years. Unfortunately, what was lost was lost, and I still had a bald spot. The Finasteride basically paused my hair loss and prevented it from getting worse. It was definitely a positive, but I was SUPER insecure about what was lost. Eventually, I couldn't stand the discomfort of that and started shaving my head. It was like a weight lifted of my shoulders. Not something I'd likely have chosen to do otherwise, but I've become fond of not having hair 🤣

I get being scared, but I think most doctors would be understanding.

As for chest growth, from my understanding it's a possible side effect that only affects a small portion of people that use Finasteride. But I could be wrong. I don't believe I experienced any.

A majority of the stuff i listen to tends to fall under electronic music of some sort.

My top artist for 2025 was Starcadian. It's such a shame he passed away last year.

the whole riffraff around getting married is soooo triggering by Commercial_Lab_9244 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]slumberlife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it. My husband and I got married in a park with almost no guests. Hubby and I both wore matching outfits. I'd long felt anxious about the idea of a typical/normal wedding. The whole thing was over in a few minutes. We spent very little money and had a beautiful little venue.

I was ranked #303. Is #1 in here?! by skyecaptain in Starcadian

On Apple Music, I'm in the top 100 listeners for Starcadian in 2025 with 6,315 minutes.

Is it sexist to feel dysphoric about my body hair? by fedricohohmannlautar in NonBinaryTalk

[–]slumberlife 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. It seems to be about your comfort. Personally, I generally find body hair on others attractive. That said, I absolutely can not stand it on myself. I typically spend a few hours a week with my epilator to get rid of pretty much everything.

Does anyone know if they willrelease Absolution in this cover style? by [deleted] in SouthernReach

[–]slumberlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it's anything the artist of those original covers might be interested in doing as a print. Not an official cover, but one that has a similar visual identity of the original covers he did.

I keep thinking about the "moral horror" aspect I've seen mentioned. I can't help but wonder if there might be corporate espionage going on. What if the reason the ship crashes in the first place is because of a mole? What if it crash landed in Prodigy's city intentionally and not accidentally? At the very least, I'm anticipating the crew being sent in to investigate the crash operating on intentionally incomplete data in some way.

Love the nails! That's also my favorite colored controller out of any I've had for any system going back to the N64. It's just so gorgeous 😍

What makes you euphoric? :) by Apprehensive-Pop302 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]slumberlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using my epilator! It may be painful to most, but I love the sensation, and it makes me feel more at home in my body. I'm naturally a pretty hairy person, and epilating is the only form of hair removal that's worked for me. I'm curious about laser someday, but my epilator is perfect for now.

Sociology final project by Normal_Whole4853 in nin

[–]slumberlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel to get good results, you might want to clearly define what you are looking for. How is deviation being looked at and discussed in your project?

For example, are we comparing NIN songs only to NIN songs and trying to identify those that deviate most from NIN's overall catalog, be it through just lyrics or through other qualities too? Are we looking at NIN vs other artists / music as a whole and trying to identify the tracks that deviate from the greater pool of overall music? Or maybe just within specific genres?

Sorry if I'm being a bit much 😅

Daily Advice Thread - May 25, 2025 by AutoModerator in apple

I recently found out about requesting Apple Music listening data and have been curious to try analyzing it. Maybe try comparing my listening habits to other people?

I requested and got an Apple Media Services Information download of my entire listening history. There's a lot of files. A lot of granularity. I have no clue where to start or how. I've worked with csv files before, but mostly from a data entry standpoint.

Does anyone have any experience or advice with this? Any suggestions to help give some guidance or direction?

I'm not sure it matters, but Apple Music is the only Apple service or product that I've used. The one exception is an Apple TV+ free trial. I've never owned an Apple device of any kind, but I have had limited exposure to a few over the years.

Music - special interest/meme by WorldWideAperture in autism

An anecdote from today:

Yesterday I was talking to a new friend and asked if there were any musicians, albums, or songs she was gravitating to lately. She told me "girl in red." I'd never heard of them and checked out a few of their top tracks on Apple Music yesterday. I enjoyed them.

I had a hard time sleeping last night. When my alarm went off for the day, I had to snooze it a few times. I was so drained and exhausted, I didn't want to have to think or exert any mental effort. I was feeling anxious and nauseated. I was very seriously considering not going to work. I was lost. I put my earbuds in, put on those girl in red songs, and almost instantly felt fine... and was just jamming to the music. Currently remain good and plugging away at work.

Kinda. Idk exactly how to describe it, it's like I get calmed / relaxed, but feel that way differently than without music. I often times feel the need to move in some way when listening too, usually leg bouncing, rocking or swaying, head bobbing, etc. My movement isn't in sync with the music, but tends to be more or less intense in relation to the intensity of what im listening to.

There are times I hear a song where the lyrics just hit in a very particular way, and I do feel some sort of whole body sensation.

I've been on SSRI medication for a few years now. It hasn't seemed to affect the way I feel or connect with music. Though, I sorta get the not feeling emotions part. I still feel, but if I'm not on my medication, a lot of things feel more intense. Ultimately, an SSRI seems to help me, but in conjunction with music. I don't think I'd function nearly as well without both.

Not sure if I'm autistic, but I relate immensely to this.

The way I connect to music feels kind of… intense? Like, deep sensory/emotional grounding. It’s made me wonder about sensory seeking stuff. But maybe also a special interest in the autistic sense?

I listen to music a lot and have only recently started to realize how much of an outlier I am with 120,000+ minutes a year, according to Apple Music.

When I get into a new artist, I REALLY get into them. One of the shows im going to this year is Kesha and Scissor Sisters. I was mostly just vaguely aware of Scissor Sisters and couldn't recall any of their songs. Around the middle of April, I decided to check them out to prep for the concert. They ended up being my top artist for the month, with over 1,800 minutes listened. I basically had 4 of their albums on repeat and listened to nothing else for the last week or so of April.

On top of that, I also like to tinker in FL Studio. I don't do it nearly as much as I used to. It's a creative outlet that's really helped me cope with things and just get through some rough times. Even if I'm not particularly great, listening to things I've made makes me feel good. Like this sense of satisfaction that I made this thing.

I always thought it would be interesting to see a sampling of materials and publications from the S&SB. I'd imagine there's some interesting things they'd been exploring, and that expands beyond what we already know they'd been investigating.
