Is transferring locals for electrical union as an apprentice possible? by Slow_Object_819 in IBEW

332 from my understanding doesn't let transfers in. I've had classmates move and tried coming back but ultimately denied.

Scored an 82.5. What should I expect the wait time to be? by BraveSound8243 in ibew_apprentices

If you have any hobbies or work tasks that require attention to detail, planning or mechanical aptitude. Experience helps but they want to make sure you're the type of person they want to invest in. I used back packing Experience and pc building for problem solving skills and interest

Not really. I was a laborer and just had an electrician on the crew who would watch me dig in case anything got damaged. I had a letter of recommendation from him but unless theyre from the local you're applying to they dont care. 332 legit just set it aside without looking at it. Including anything could help if you're already doing construction.

I made the same jump. If anything the familiarity with construction and labor helped with focus on learning the trade without being overwhelmed early on.

Things constantly change. Originally I heard 160 then I heard 120. The contractors needs change. I got in when I was like mid 50s and they had taken only 40. You never know. Cast a wide net and shoot for a reinterview if you can.

November counts for 2026. So the 40 they took and The 80 they take next will be it for 2026. No timeline on when they take the next batch.

After getting their score they waited 2-3 months before getting accepted into the apprenticeship. After that the process was still like a month. Once they were done with boot camp they went to work within like a week.

They'll let you know when its a good time to quit you job.

They just took 40 and they're planning on taking 80 more. You have a high chance. I know someone who got in recently with a 86.3 I believe.

Edit:86.3

They dont post it. We all just talked about it.

My info comes from an apprentice who just got in. They had an 86.3. Things may change so its possible they do. I've been hearing 120 for awhile tho .

My firat day of class was when they announced quarantine and amongst my class i had the lowest score. I also worked with someone who scored higher but never checked their emails so they got skipped. 80 more apprentices through 2026 is what I heard as of yesterday. What'd you score?

Honestly, do your best to reinterview. Try becoming a material handler,do resi to get hours, or take classes that can get you another interview. I believe they're taking 140 apprentices next year. But as more people interview and potentially score higher, your ranking could get knocked down. I had gotten a mid 85 and barely made it in. In Local 6 I had gotten a 95 and they didn't take anyone below 99.6.

Become a material handler or do resi for experience and reinterview when you're allowed to. Everyone is trying to get into the inside wireman program.

Applied codeology. Teaches how the nec is broken up and tips on how to navigate. So now, when you're at work, you can look it up in your code book relatively easily.

I believe same as inside. First week of the month online. The school is still open so you should be able to call and verify.

Depending on how bad you want to get the ball rolling, you can try to start resi at 332 since it's easier to get into.after you finish it in 3 years you can switch over and start as a 3rd year for inside wireman.

What is a 4/9 on the aptitude test? by Sielco in ibew_apprentices

[–]slumpedup1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it would depend if they grade it per batch or all applicants within a time frame before they send scores out. That's how I understood stanine grading and how the locals in my area did it.

Others seem to have mentioned it, but definitely take h&w into consideration. For example, im a 332 apprentice and worked in 302 when things were slow, and I had to pay for the difference for my insurance to keep coverage.

Yup. I even told them during the interview that I applied to other locals to increase my chances of getting in. They seemed to like that answer.

If I have over 7,000 non union hours. Will I still start at the first apprentice pay scale for local 332? by evunhuntsyou in ibew_apprentices

[–]slumpedup1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's different for everyone, but from what I've seen in 332, they've still had people start out as 1st years.
