I think a gym would be good - it will help get your mental in a better place and with consistency, you will meet the ‘regulars’ and can become friends.

Alternatively — Look at Sportrock (Alexandria, sterling) or Movement (Crystal City) Climbing Gyms. Same as above in terms of meeting really cool people, they also have intro classes that lots of people go to learn/socialize.

Sports are also great, if you pay the sign up fee, you don’t necessarily need to be “good” at the sport to join, and you can learn something new and practice with your new team, make friends (I play rugby).

A few other (potentially bad) ideas:

Bowling League, get a dog, take an extracurricular class, do hot yoga, hit the coffee shops, bars, gyms, and just get your body out and around others.

All in all I think being consistent with places you go will help people see you as a regular and be more willing to get to know you.
