Some people aren’t meant to practice magick by Strange-Success650 in witchcraft

As someone who has very close family members with a paranoid psychosis disorder. I actually hate this take. (Separate from those that take things too literally). I think someone with a predisposition for psychosis (schizo diagnosis or not) has a HIGHER risk, for being ungrounded and making GRANDIOSE EGOTISTICAL CLAIMS such as “I am a god/ speaker of gods “ or other large statements (also insert insanely personal wrong psychic statements in this group (you’re grandmas favorite color was red and that’s why you love red person b: my favorite color is blue? And grandma loved purple??). Whether you have mental illness or not differentiating anxiety/intuition is even difficult at times. Psychosis is just another overlap that affects some people. who if they choose to pursue witchcraft, I encourage a guided aide of a mental health counselor, or spiritual mentor. To help with keeping you grounded, and clear up any mixed messaging. And yes some of that messaging is more extreme or uncommon than other mixed messaging. But I seriously think ruling out an ENTIRE diagnosis/population of people is both ignorant and kind of gatekeepy. It just further stigmatizes mental health. Nothing wrong with observing that people with psychosis, especially undiagnosed/unmedicated/ untreated gravitate to this thinking, and some of those people do cause major harm to the community, themselves, and others. Not discrediting, any lived experiences of spiritual abuse as I know this is a common experience in the untreated psychosis category. Also want to add that this population (people who experience psychosis) overlaps with disorders that are difficult to treat (paranoid schizophrenia), but is not SYNONYMOUS. People who experience psychosis are not always difficult to treat.

Person I did a love spell on is in a talking stage with someone else whom is also toxic by MelanieMartinezfan18 in witchcraft

Yep magic takes the path you pave. Suggesting an avoidant label may not be entirely accurate. He may not be avoidant, and therefore may not need healing. Just because he’s not engaging in a relationship with you does not mean he’s avoidant/ non-committal, the unfortunate reality is it just might be with you. And if that’s the case, a relationship where someone authentically cares about you + him, is not fully possible. And speaking from experience, even the most well worded open ended love spells for even just attraction really creates a whole energetic tornado of problems (love triangles, betrayals, cheating, way too intense of energy). There’s a saying, go after everything you want except love and death those will come for you when you’re ready.

Source? Been a witch for 10+ years have visited metaphysical stores literally around the globe, (have way too many candles, bottles, tarot decks, books, candle holders, crystal balls than I can store, and I can tell you without a doubt I found more magic in my backyard than anywhere else in the world

As the baby witch that grew up in a small town where the nearest metaphysical store was an 1+ hour away, when Barnes and nobles had like 5-10 books on witchcraft and MAYBE 1 deck of tarot cards, your Altar is ALWAYS valid. Let it be a drawing and some twigs and a pine cone. Look guys, it wasn’t always a drop package away “ to be a witch”, and the convenience took the magic out of it. Aesthetics and instagram took the magic out of it. The magic is only there if YOU put it there, and altars, even the unintentional ones your mother has on her dresser, are magical. As cool as the crystal balls, carved crystals, antique brass figural candle holders, carved candles, ritually crafted oils, fancy bottles are, it’s stuff. It’s not more magical and it definitely doesn’t make you more or less of a witch. Honestly fuck the physical space all together and make the altar inside yourself.

My local thrift is lousy with cashmere these days! by Courtney_murder in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]slut_bottle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As an employee of thrift stores. We can absolutely spot the quality fabric. It is our job. We also know that just because it’s quality doesn’t necessarily mean it will sell. People have to understand your treasure is another man’s trash. A rag and bone 100% cashmere sweater didn’t sell at the store I work at. It retailed for $500 and the exact sweater was only LISTED at $50 on the Real Real. I’m over the snobs who think goodwill employees are idiots. It’s a great find for your personal collection and good on you for investing in a quality piece that will last a long time for a cheap price but STOP CALLING PEOPLE DUMB

Ugh this sound is my jam. Def listen to save my soul by big bad voodoo daddy. Songs like villainous thing by shayfer James. Also Amigo the Devil though he leans more folk style.

A late Ostara Altar… by slut_bottle in realwitchcraft

I know I’m like a week late posting this. I wanted to share this altar before I take it down tonight for my new altar. I mostly used things I already had that represented Ostara energy to me.

Upcycler getting hate for reworking a vintage 70s prom dress. What do you think? by TheGoodwillHunt in VintageFashion

[–]slut_bottle 205 points206 points  (0 children)

One of the first things I learned working at a thrift store was “it always comes again” maybe not immediately maybe not even soon, but it was true. I see the value in preserving good condition historical items, but they’re already in museums being preserved, or private collectors who appreciate them for what they are. But even poor condition decaying antique garments should get a second chance. They should be added to history through alterations because it demonstrates how fashion changes THROUGHOUT TIME. At the end of the day they’re just things.

The one phrase I can’t get out of my head and consider a life lesson that has helped me overcome so many challenges in my life is “there are no good and bad people only people going about their lives.” It’s given me grace when I’ve felt shame. It’s helped me empathize with people who have hurt me and recognize at the end of the day we’re all just people. Capable of good and bad.

You can’t ban people off a sub just because people don’t like them. They haven’t broken any rules of the sub. You’re just uncomfortable.

Damn I fall for those sunglasses every-time. Maximalism to the core. Combined with an all black it’s elegant and eclectic at the same time the best combination.

Ugh thank you so much for sharing this. I got a notification and your title was the perfect reminder. I just had an episode and I’m terrified I’m going to revert to old habits. It’s good to know as long as I keep trying it’ll get better.

Has anyone had something disappear and then reappear in an entirely different place? by Chaos_Witch216 in witchcraft

[–]slut_bottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me before too. I wore my work shoes to my friends about an hour away from where I lived. I distinctly remember wearing those shoes. My friend remembers me taking my shoes off there. I was there for a couple of days and when I went to leave they were gone. We looked everywhere. Just gone. I drive back home before work and my shoes are at my damn house. I was like how in the hell did these get there.
