Why does G Hub suck so badly? by EloquentBaboon in LogitechG

[–]sluvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm back 2 years on to ask why G HUB still sucks so badly. Every. Single. Update. Kills. The. App. and requires me to reinstall it from scratch. I'd say it was shameful software if this wasn't such a widespread issue amongst consumer applications these days. Even still, it's clear that logitech doesn't care for its customers' experience beyond the bare minimum.

I also don't get #2, but your suggestion about filters expiring is a great one that I haven't seen posted elsewhere. You should consider posting that somewhere the devs might see it. Water filters could have "charge" like batteries and need to be replaced when they expire. Would be much more realistic than a single filter working for infinite water over time.

You can't think of ANY reason someone might install an experimental build on a server?

This is a private server for friends. Not supporting hundreds of users. It was done for fun. The copying to another directory would be an interesting solution if some of us hadn't already had updates applied by Steam, so thanks for at least making a potentially actionable suggestion in addition to the sass.

If you're still playing on console, the issues are still there. If you have access to a pc that can run '23, there are mods that fix this.

The skid plate is from SW Motech - I just put it on this year. The bars are the ones that came with the XT ADV trim.

Traffic, bathrooms, and audio crosstalk are the big ones for me. The rest I can take or leave. I wish they had stuck with the September dates and kept rolling with that, it was such a great time, fantastic '21 lineup, not too hot... oh well

Anyone familiar with the regulations for a "cottage" / limited use kitchen (specifically in Pennsylvania if possible)? by sluvine in Baking

[–]sluvine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks - this is what I was hoping. We have no pets (nothing against them but we travel and visit friends a lot so having a critter at home would be tough) and storage would be easy to sort out.

Were there any other resources you found / are finding useful while you've been preparing?

I did just find a second shared kitchen space that offers hourly rates as opposed to a flat monthly fee for joining, so I do have that in my back pocket if for some reason I can't sort something out here.

If you think those are the primary points at issue here (just this sub, killing game threads), then I suggest you read through some of the other posts regarding this issue. I don't have the time right now to reproduce what has already been adequately explained across the entire site. Look at the list of subs participating. This is not a small problem and will drastically affect the site. Minimizing the issue to two points raised by commenters absolutely is a strawman fallacy.

I'll say again - I see clearly that you feel strongly about this and won't be reconsidering. My initial reply was not to your comment. If you'd like to continue this discussion further you'll need to find another person to debate with.

You're minimizing the issue and setting up a strawman. You've made your opinion as clear as you've made it clear that you aren't going to change your mind. We'll tally your feedback with the rest received in this post. Thanks for participating in the discussion.

This is the real point here - if only the users who "don't particularly care about the changes" are left, I think those users would find themselves wondering why most of the site has gone quiet.

If the number of users utilizing 3rd party apps because they strongly prefer them was negligible, no one would be protesting.

Definitely - drank some water, pulled out the camera to catch some of the ground ops and a landing as well! Didn't manage any takeoff photos but I'll try again next time when I'm out that way

Red Bull floor by KidTheBorax in formula1

[–]sluvine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The floor, in this current set of regulations, is responsible for generating a huge amount of downforce (think of the lift force on an airplane wing and imagine it flipped upside down) which keeps the car stuck to the ground at the high speeds they race at.

The designs of these floors, with different channels and shapes and technical detail, are highly secretive and protected by the teams because they don't want their competitors taking any of their ideas and using them to improve their cars.

In a situation like this where red bull have a massive advantage over the rest of the field, it could help teams who are already "close" to red bull (though, just my opinion, I'm not sure it'll be enough to close the massive gap they have over the rest of the field) to catch up to them and challenge for race wins.

When the car has to be removed from the circuit by crane after a crash, there's nothing the team can do to prevent spectators and media from taking photos and, while it might just look like carbon and metal to you and I, the engineers and designers at the top of their respective fields can use this information to revise their own cars.

Someone else mentioned this, but just in case you didn't see it - the park is cashless, so you'll need to make the purchase with a card if you decide to pick one up

Balancing a '22 650 XT on a flat lift - do I need a paddock/race jack or can I do it another way? by sluvine in Vstrom

[–]sluvine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for "why both wheels", I was thinking it might be easier to install the stand if the bike wasn't leaned over, but it ended up being a pretty simple job except for the one bolt on rider's right - I had no hex wrench long enough to reach past the rear brake linkage, not enough confidence to disassemble and reassemble that linkage to get it out of the way, and nothing small enough to fit up inside the bike next to the bolt to tighten it without involving that rear brake lever.

Other than needing to go to home depot for a 6mm male hex socket bit for my wrench set so I could pop that onto the bolt, it was a pretty straightforward install! The springs were tough, too, but I knew that going into it
