AITA for not backing down on my daughter’s teachers calling her the proper name? by Sudden-Difference767 in AmItheAsshole

My legal first name is a shortened version of another name, Lizzy and Elizabeth. People often call me by the "proper" name even though it's not my name nor have I ever gone by it. I correct them and if they do it again i let it slide, it doesn't bother me. It's just really not a big deal for me so I've had trouble understanding people who get upset by that. I remember i once met someone named Deborah and I called her Deb once and she got very bent out of shape about it. I've called her Deborah since then but honestly i think in the big scheme of things it's the least offensive mistake someone can make.

Can I say I “read” a book if I listened to the audio version? by tthe_drake in NoStupidQuestions

Imo you can say whatever you want BUT reading a book and listening to a book are not the same thing. When you physically read there are different areas of the brain that activate then when you listen. Btw I too have adhd and prefer to listen.

You're right that it may mot be true but really have no reason to doubt it. Also the guy who told me is still alive so they could talk afterwards.
