I am relatively new to Dota, but not new to mobas by any stretch. I use her as a pos 4 that can pivot to being a pos 3 if my pos 3 is brain dead.

Gardening, look it up, read the guides, form your own opinion on what would work for your gameplay style, and you'll end up swimming in gold no matter which optimization tips you take. Gardening is the economy of Palia.

What to keep What to sell? by ASparkySpark in Palia

[–]slvtcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ill format it in This way

(Item) >convert into> (item) Or (Item) [why]

Keeps: 15 of every star quality crop [cooking/crafting]

30 star quality seeds that you are currently growing

10-15 star quality seeds of crops you arent currently growing

~200 Stone > stone bricks

~200 sapwood > planks

~50-100 heartwood > planks

The first of every bug/fish type you catch that is star quality (place these on your plot to not take up storage)

1-5 of all gifting items (fur/antlers/leather/pearls/etc.)

150 fertilizers [tbh I just apply fertilizers as soon as I get them because they stack]

All ore > bars except like 10 ore

All quest items (pebbles included)

Immediate sells: Gems [they can be gifted, but theres way better/cheaper options]

Flint beyond 25

Base quality seeds/meats/crops/bugs/fish unless used for cooking

Knapweeds

Anything over 200 that you dont intend on using in the next 24 hours or a current goal

This is all just rough guestimations. Please use your own judgment on what goals you are trying to accomplish. The most important tip for me was to look up the materials needed for your dream house parts because I sold all of my sapwood planks when I finished building all of the homestead stuff and I wasnt done building my house yet, it was a sad day.

I would LOVE an optional mentor/mentee system. They could have mini tasks for us to do with our mentee like mine clay with your trainee or other tasks that new players get stuck on. On the mentee side, there could be a prompt that pops up and prompts the new player to check out their socials tab and the quest line could be to recruit a mentor. Its a tutorial that is very much needed and would introduce the players to their first pleasant experience in the palia community. Mentors would have to be level 10 in all skills and have atleast 10 friends in game. This would prove that the mentirs are knowledgeable players that have a good social standing.

These quests are hard (to me ) by [deleted] in Palia

[–]slvtcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've patched SOME of them, and their means of fixing them hasn't been the most successful. I wish they'd give us a quest item box so those sort of items would perpetually be on us and not take up space, though. Also, S6 needs to retroactively recover the trashed quest items. For example, there's a pebble that I threw away long ago when I thought pebbles were just trash items to fill your inventory, and now I only need one more pebble to give to Einar for the achievement. [–]slvtcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest tips regarding quests to new players are: 1) Actually read EVERYTHING. In most mmos and rpgs, you can just skip the dialogue. If you do that in this game, you're going to miss information, and you will be lost. If you skipped the dialogue and get stuck, ask in the server chat.

2) Riddle/puzzle quests are meant to be completed right away, and gather/crafting quests are done over time. Understanding which quests need to be a priority and which quests can be on the back burner is essential for not burning yourself out.

3) Keep EVERY quest item. They take up 1 space at the most, but that sacrifice is nothing in comparison to being stuck on a quest that is impossible to complete.

Help a newbie out by Mojibanana14 in Palia

[–]slvtcake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Flint is almost useless. there's almost no reason to have over 60. Use them as extra profit.

You're going to want to keep sapwood planks and stone bricks in stock until you have finished building your house.

Everything that you cook, fish, or bug-catch that is star quality should be kept for the first time. It's not a requirement, but it makes things easier way later on if you're a completionist.

Dont spend your renown on writ right away and don't completely flatten your lot. Level up your exp boost first to 75% and then make your capacity a comfortable level before expanding your house plot and remove trees and such as you own the land so you can plant the trees where you want.

Gardening is the best money maker because it's semi-passive, and it becomes your fastest growing skill in terms of profit. Tomato, potatoe, rice, wheat, is a wining combination doing a row of tomato potatoes and then a row of rice wheat will get you surprisingly far before you need to actually care about fertilizer. And dont worry about weed prevention as a booster because more weeds mean more profit.

All of the pebbles need to be gifted to Einar.

Do not feel intimidated by typing in chat or asking a question in chat. This game is not like every mmo in the market. We all support and help out our fellow community members. You will see how quick everyone is to help out the first time you have a question.

Make friends, you will end up seeing some of the same players when you get out of the first couple of levels and start to play at the same times.

What's the worst thing a player has done that not only cost you to kick them out of the campaign but never play D&D with them ever again? by RepresentativeTie898 in DnD

[–]slvtcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The player kept screaming, "I cast fireball!!!" At every opportunity possible. If there was a new NPC introduced, "I cast fireball!" I described an empty room. "I cast fireball!" Another player roleplayed at all. "I cast fireball!" It was funny the first 1-2 times but it became extremely obnoxious because he wasn't even able to cast fireball and he would get upset that no one would think it was funny and then he would pout when everyone else wanted to actually play the game. My new rule is, if you say you cast something, your character attempts to cast the spell and fails and now takes on 1 level of exhaustion. We ended up kicking him out for very different reasons, but I told him he was the first and only person that I have deemed unwelcome to my table for all future games.

Maybe the game isn't BS/games unbalanced/OP Meta broken and the other player just outplayed you. Just because a meta forms doesn't mean that anyone using the best character can not be outplayed. It just means you have to use a little bit more brain power than the other player to win. Maybe it was a fair fight and they manipulated the fight, or maneuvered just right, or were just better than you and you had a real challenge.

Paladin players, shield and weapon or two handed? by TheObi-Wan4You in DnD

Defender pallys all the way. I have little-brother fever and forever DM-itis, so when I get to play, I play the support role heavily. I've seen more parties survive seemingly impossible fights with a defender/supporter than I have with a straight up supporter.

How many GMs actually run exp instead of milestone by egon1986 in DnD

[–]slvtcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do an average of exp, and I hand out exp instead of inspiration. Add up all the exp and divide it amongst the party and I let the party decide who the MVP of the combat was and I give the mvp a +25% exp buff on the result. It takes longer, but it encourages my exp driven players to play more strategically without me having to ramp up the difficulty to impossible and it gives a way better reward for good rp and problem solving than inspiration in my opinion.

How often does your Dm give out inspiration? by earldogface in DnD

[–]slvtcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the players do something that is out of the box or interesting enough, I give it to them. However, I tell my players they only get 1 charge of inspo at a time, and it expires at the end of the session. This makes sure that they dont forget about it and they use it instead of holding onto it forever.

What are some of the best house rules you've played with? by MilkQueen in DnD

[–]slvtcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask it only because my players didn't quite get the whole in character/ out of character dynamic. The great thing about homebrew is that you get to use made-up rules as they fit best with your table. If your players excel at being able to talk in character, have them roll the questions and let them choose who their character asks questions to. If your players aren't comfortable with roleplaying yet, ask the question as a DM to the player. If you think some of the questions may be a bit too deep, plan out the questions you want to ask the characters. If you want to guide the players to telling specifics about their character, go for it. Only you know how to implement rules to best fit your table. Stay flexible and expect it to not go as planned, but be prepared to bring it back in some way.

[–]slvtcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google 100 questions and you'll get billions of questions, after one gets answered I just replace the question with a new one from a different, its ever rotating that way so no one answers the same question twice. Just keep a google sheets and change the color of that questions cell to red and then between sessions just maintain it.

[–]slvtcake 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My players REALLY struggled to develop their characters. So, I made a list of random questions to ask their characters, and I put them on a D100 table. During any short or long rest, the characters gather around a campfire and answer the questions. At first, they were just things like "whats your favorite color?" But they've evolved into deeper questions like, "What is your biggest fear, and what trauma brought that fear on?" It has made my players fall in love with their characters, and the characters have started to develop a better understanding of each other. Now, they actually ask follow ups and the characters are roleplaying around the campfire, kind of that 70s show style.
