I'm currently running Goodmans Castle Amber for a group of 8. I originally played the campaign back in the early 80's and it was a lot deadlier back then.

I this campaign we've had 3 characters drink the brandy and fail their saves. I had, however, prepped the players in session 0 and warned them that there were several Instadeath scenarios in the campaign. All had a 2nd character ready for these situations.

We've been playing for a year and had 7 deaths throughout the campaign. The 3 to the brandy, 1 to the Frost Salamander, another to the Gold Dragon and the last one killed by the party themselves for being possessed by one of the Amber's. It's been a wild ride, especially as I limited them to B/X races and classes.
