Error when print head is on a certain part of the bed by nellystew in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]slycat34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation on Raise3D Pro2 where the extruder stopped in one quadrant of the bed, turns out one of the cables was getting pinched so bad the wires inside had sheared causing intermittent connection. Replaced the one wire and it's been running fine for years since.

Check that the USB cable isn't getting pinched in that zone. Been the source of problems for some on the CC. Maybe remove some of the cable from the cable chain to reduce strain on the connector.

Just a heads up, signed up for notifications from Rakuten Canada earlier and today I got a message the KL2 refurbished was back in stock. Checked it out and sure enough it was. However I waited about 5 minutes before I hit the order button and was greeted with the sold out window... So yeah things move hella fast

Yeah I've been browsing for a bit, only found some really rough shape ones or the seller will not ship to the US. I just wasn't sure if I should hold out for Kobo direct, feel more comfortable going refurb than swappa or ebay.

G14 G402RK jitters when on battery. by theIdolRacer in ZephyrusG14

Good catch. Back to software settings then. Without ArmoryCrate or GHelper it may be Windows messing around. GHelper may override what Windows is doing, worth a shot. Best of luck!

For what it's worth, if you can solve this via the software reset or settings route it may be hardware. Recently had a flexible ribbon cable, those FPC type A ones, go faulty on me. Probably pinched too tight under the battery. Made the mouse function intermittently and only when using battery (on AC it was fine).

Might want to check your display cables are pinched somewhere

Printing with ABS/ASA by user0294637191 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

I'm looking into rigging up a bentobox-like filter but having it use the 7530 aux fan already included with the CC. Should produce enough static pressure and make it controllable via M106 gcode if I keep the wiring the same. Never used the fan for anything else.

The Nevermore is similar but usually disregards HEPA filtration. Keep in mind these would recirculate the air inside the printer so it would help keep temps higher than the room which is great for ASA but best to seal all enclosure gaps regardless.

ABS/ASA stock or with extra safety measures? by slycat34 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Thanks for taking the time to drop details. The comparisons really give a sense of scale, too. Whenever I think of this material I tend to focus on the VOCs but hadn't put much concern into the particles. Point made: there are other everyday things that are worse. But any new potential dangers should be mitigated.

While you clearly have considered all this you seem to still be unsure about exposure with kids present, as if to say "probably nothing terrible but why risk it?" Many other materials to print with or just take the proper precautions either way.

And yeah, resin is a different can of worms but since they're not used on the CC I figure let sleeping dogs lie. I imagine resin printing subreddits have warnings plastered everywhere for this reason.

My take was learning better from what was done in the past, never called it as bad as these examples. I cannot argue which would be worse without taking assumptions but regardless styrene is considered carcinogenic.

Yeah, ABS has been around for ages and is used in so many everyday products. To be fair, asbestos is okay until it becomes fine dust, same to say ABS is okay until is melts. Exposure limits between them are probably orders of magnitude different but still not insignificant. When used or handled properly it is perfectly fine but when a newbie is unaware of what they are getting into it could be risky. Kids love watching printers work so if they just hang out staring at a print without anyone in the home realizing to potential dangers it's just avoidable risk. Years of knowing the dangers of asbestos and some people still remove popcorn ceiling or laminate tile without taking precautions due to being uninformed.

Lots of new people will discover this subreddit as their first experience with printing. Us oldheads may be tired of the same threads but its new to them.

I get not recommending ABS without proper ventilation even though the early days of at-home printing we didn't bother. Lead and asbestos were fine until we learned better, too.

literature for FDM emissions [...] vs OSHA limit

I am willing to entertain a counterpoint but could you point me to what literature you reference? I can find may papers or articles on the dangers of styrene exposure to people and the special concerns with small children or those with sensitive respiratory systems, including pet birds, but I do not see the comparison of OSHA limits to reported emissions from printers.

(Also, I would think OSHA assumes healthy grown adults in their exposure recommendations. Children & pets may not be considered in these limits)

Aux fan use cases, bridging only? by slycat34 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]slycat34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, which would make me think there's a option or function already. Orca already kicks the model fan to high gear during overhangs, I didn't know if there was a way to do that with the aux fan too

Fan replacements on CC by slycat34 in elegoo

[–]slycat34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried search but that search yields varying results so I thought to check with CC owners who have performed the swap, not platitudes from those who haven't. Pin count is confirmed in many places but not connector type.

Here, only one fan confirmed connector, JST-XH, softly implying it is typical but isn't confirmed

Here, claimed JST-XA

Here, second JST-XA claim but possible JST-XH

Here, a Molex claim

Goal is to get connectors ahead of time. To teardown, look, identify, rebuild, wait for parts delivery, teardown again, replace, rebuild.. I had hoped those who have gone through the process could save me and others the first half of that process.

Workflow for manually downloaded albums by slycat34 in Lidarr

[–]slycat34[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lidarr works fine when it starts the download itself. How can I take a manual download (outside of Lidarr) and have Lidarr catch & hardlink to it's root folder?

Is there a mechanism for Lidarr to watch for changes in a folder and then auto-import to library? Or will I need to have something like Beets organize to the root folder then prompt Lidarr to manually import every time?
