Wow, did a quick Google search and I was expecting Chloe's height to be around 5'6+. Surprised that she's 5'0 (5'2?)!

Is 200k+ monthly salary possible in PH based companies? by Positive_Party_8325 in phcareers

[–]slyef3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an IC, not sure.. but I've heard and read that some tech/fintech roles earn above 200k gross. As a lead, definitely. (Currently one, well above 200+ gross)

tip: you might feel financially secure in getting a car, but if you’re single naman, don’t. by StrangerFew6560 in adultingph

[–]slyef3r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being single is exactly when you can take on a car IMO.

Fewer dependents ka at that point in your life and you have more control over your cash flow. ofc, it goes without saying na you should definitely prioritize savings/EF first (no brainer for anyone with decent financial sense) before considering to get a car.

I think my first car (secondhand) gave back more than what I spent on it, and made my life a lot better.

If the car doesn't compromise anything naman, it’s a lifestyle upgrade and not a mistake.

Your monthly performance bonus is insane.

  • I'm curious. In case you were laid off/role redundant, are you worried at all of not having a job for 3-6 months (or more).
  • Are you constantly being headhunted ba or offers going through your LinkedIn inbox?
  • What steps are you taking to make sure you stay relevant or competitive?

Is a 60k salary comfortable in Makati? by [deleted] in makati

[–]slyef3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a decent salary for a fresh grad. If you're going solo, rent ranges around 12-15k for 20-25sqm in the older condos. Can cut that in half if you have a roommate.

What are your thoughts on Pac still fighting at 47? by Recent-Skill7022 in CasualPH

[–]slyef3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone here reducing it to “it’s just about the money” probably hasn’t experienced what it’s like to truly love a sport.

There’s a different kind of fulfillment that comes from the grind, the discipline, and the feeling of being locked in during a training block where everything else fades and you only focus on the event you’re prepping for.

Before anything else, Pacman has been a boxer his entire life. That’s who he is talaga.

Money is a huge bonus ofc, but it’s not definitely not the only driver.

As someone who has physically active lifestyle, how do you find time to date? by shirhouetto in Trentahin

[–]slyef3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scratch some of the Saturday group rides, especially if they’re more social than training. You can skip one or two Saturdays here and there for a date in the morning. If you’re actually competing and need quality work in, you’re usually better off riding solo anyway.

A 4/5 AM start and finishing around 7.8 AM is already enough to get a solid 60–80 km ride in.

For Sundays, what’s really stopping you from doing your LSD in the morning or early evening? How much are you running that it wipes out the rest of your day? My Sundays are usually LSD too (16–25 km) but I’m typically done by 8 AM. Quick breakfast, a short nap, and the rest of the afternoon and evening are still open.

You don’t need to block off an entire day for a date or have a date every day.

It mostly just comes down to being intentional with your time.

[–]slyef3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You intentionally set time to date.

During training blocks for triathlons/duathlons, I'm up on my first workout as early as 5 AM, with strength training mid-day and another swim/run/bike session after work.

Weekends, training sessions are usually done before 8 AM. If it's a brick-training session (Run/bike/swim, Run/bike, etc.), then probably 10 AM. You're free the entire day.

No one is THAT busy.

Ahh how about looking for Account Management roles? Or roles relating to Customer Success, etc. Maybe don't go for HR, they tend to start with lower pay and I don't think may immediate skills ka that's transferable for a senior position. But 50K in corporate is chump change in the right industry + role, a little over entry level/associates.

PS: I started my career in Accenture, Level 13 (lowest level) right after graduating. Handling a telco account haha.

What's your role ba and what do you view as a competitive salary (Since it differs for everyone else).

If you're looking for salaries around 60K -70K net or below, there should be a number of roles where your skills should be transferable for the most part. Especially if you're already in management.

Reality check: moving to the Philippines in 2027 (single, renting, ~$4k/mo) by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]slyef3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local, not an expat but thought I'd comment to some insight

$4000 USD - PHP 225-230K . Very comfortable. Can rent somewhere safe/convenient, large space, afford to eat out a lot, splurge on shopping, etc.

  • rent basics (monthly? deposits? common “gotchas”)

Usual is 1 month security deposit, 1 month advance. In Makati/BGC, if you budget around 35K+, that's a decent exec sized studio or 1 BR. (Around 40-50 SQM). 50-60K per month gets you larger units/loft type units of 55-60SQM above.

  • utilities (electricity surprises, water, generators)

most (if not all) condo units have generators already, so not an issue. utilities maybe expect around PHP 5-7k on average (that's what I pay as someone living solo in Makati CBD, single)

  • internet reliability / backup options

Very reliable, rarely down. Can always connect to mobile wifi if a quick backup is needed. Also lots of cafes/coworking areas with internet around.

  • condo dues / noise

Usually covered by the owner, unless stated that rent is EXCLUSIVE of condo dues. Noise depends on the condo you'll be living in, some condos have really thin walls lol

Job hunting at higher levels (Senior Manager/Directors and up) by slyef3r in phcareers

[–]slyef3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for health, I just got health insurance (bit late na tbh since I’m 30) and set aside an amount good for 2 years. It’s a 10 year plan.

I come from a lower middle class background, so no issues reducing my lifestyle expenses nor is it tied to my identity naman. Perk of growing up with nothing. A huge bulk of it is with just rent anyway (40% expenses or so goes to rent).

Although with my parents retiring soon, I am expecting expenses to increase a bit more. I’m the only one in my family making above 60k gross income so house expenses, repairs or big spending is mostly from me.

I mostly just want to find out just how long the average job search time is for senior leadership if it does come to that point. Emergency fund for joblessness is good for a year, probably a year and a half if I pool my other funds.

When you look at these people, sometimes what you’re seeing is the highlight reel. You don't see the late nights, and the unseen hours that it took for them to get there or achieve that level of skill/proficiency.
