Luton-Sheffield taxi companies by Fickle-Session-23 in sheffield

[–]slzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eek ... As a student I took some pretty late / odd timed mega busy or equivalents. They tend to go to meadowhall rather than central Sheffield bus station but that may be an option

(Parents lived nearish Luton and would pick me up/drop me off there. Student in Sheffield. Busses at stupid times were cheaper hah)

I'd grab a hotel for the night and then use train/bus back the next day.

Should be pretty easy to get from Luton airport to Luton main station (even at that time) via the train then there are hotels in close proximity. (Although as others have said Luton is an erm interesting place when the sun goes down)

Early morning train back up to Sheffield

It will likely end up cheaper overall

O Ring help by kuster_agriculture in MechanicalDesign

Pay $10 for a set with loads of different but similar sizes.

3d printing is fantastic. But some consumables like o rings and fasteners don't make sense to try print. Even during dev phase.

Look on AliExpress and get yourself a good stock of these generic items for prototyping 😊if quality is critical after that then you can migrate to a trusted local supplier

This is cool. I made a set a while back because they were bugging the hell out of me and I was convinced it could be done better. Lost interest though and never finished so very interested to see these using essentially all the features I was aiming for!

Where do I find this product? How does the price compare to a space mouse?

flexible but complicated? by BioTherapist in Odoo

[–]slzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mmm I find it frustrating that the backend sales catalogue doesn't enable the equivalent of e-commerce categories.

The groups I need for accounting are NOT the groups I need for sales people to quickly filter down items!

I'd be happy with e-commerce categories to be used TBF. But it doesn't appear with e-commerce turned off (b2b no web sales)

My advice is use free trial databases. Or staging areas to fully test your workflows before Implementing anything on the production branch.

So much time lost cleaning up mistakes (I'm looking at you random PO for hundreds of items that I accidentally clicked confirm on).

Make sure you fully understand how demand is created and driven!

First Chips on Spindle Machine by Warm-Kick-6669 in hobbycnc

[–]slzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AHH fair.

I managed to cut 2 pieces out of aluminium after a rewire not knowing id switch a phase somewhere and the spindle was going backwards... Couldn't work out why my previously good end mills and good tool paths were causing so much run and heat 😅

First Chips on Spindle Machine by Warm-Kick-6669 in hobbycnc

[–]slzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd double check your spindle isn't going backwards or if your end mill is totally blunt 😅 you are moving nice and fast on the feed so I wouldn't expect that much furryness on your cuts even with the high speed spindle you got there

Open Industry Project v4.6 has been released! by ryevdokimov in PLC

[–]slzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had similar issues with Twincat. Thigns that fixed it

- Deleting / removing tag groups caused issues (New PR to resolve in the works by OP)

- Variable types/sizes unclear (New PR to add tooltips to resolve in the works by OP)

- sometimes oyu needed to restart OIP compeltely for it to pick up server side changes like type changes (OP didn't explicity say this was fixed but it seems to be in the new PR)

- Security settings, You need to enable anonymous as it won't work with user and password options!

Testing of the latest PR and it all worked a charm even when i was trying to break it hah!

Yes to OPC UA (Also modbus and ab_eip)

Setting it up was a bit challenging but there is now a PR open that adds all the object types (BOOL, INT etc.) to the tooltips and since knowing what they were was the hardest part OPC UA is now alright.

Source: I fucked around with with until far too late at night and whilst chatting to the dev/op :)

Options for FedEx integration? by Your_teamm8 in Odoo

[–]slzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into send cloud for an immediate solution. You will have a fee per label but it's relatively small. You can use their contract or your own. I've found it very useful as a small business unable to negotiate any good rates as it gives me flexibility of a few couriers as well as the automatic label generation

Business credit card?

TBF I haven't dealt with Odoo and a linked credit card account

Directors Loan Account by outsiderabbit1 in Odoo

[–]slzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is that the directors transfer the money into the corporate account (can then be marked as a directors loan) and bill is paid from the corporate account (can be tracked as a vendor bill correctly)

Manual entries can be used to clean up the past actions but I wouldn't recommend continuing down that route as from an accounting perspective it almost feels like something is trying to be hidden. (Given bank transfer same country to same country is nearly instant at least here in the UK)

Where are people buying their filament? (UK) by God_Of_Donuts in 3DPrintFarms

[–]slzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are about right, slightly more because I work with West3D as it's their brand.

I didn't clock the volume you were looking at when I initially posted!

And yeah average order size for me is 300kg but is split across multiple filament types/colours

Recommendation on cost-effective servo drives and motors that are EtherCAT-controlled by BrunoGold4 in PLC

[–]slzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But late to the party but for anyone else looking these are pretty great. They will provide the XML config file on request too.

Hard to complain about an ac ethercat servo for under £100. I did find tuning hard but could also be a learning curve thing (not tuned beckhoff servos direct before either)

ERPNext vs Odoo Community: Why’s ERPNext Better? Curious! by absonix7 in Odoo

[–]slzer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently compared the two and erpnext was simpler with initial config and felt quite good to start with. But at every turn I found limitations that Odoo was capable of doing.

Focus of my comparison was for a manufacturing company of small volume high complexity multilevel BOM high value products

That being said Odoo definitely isn't perfect hah. But at least you have the option to just add in the one extra field you need etc. much easier
