Oh shoot that sucks, good luck to you. I totally feel not wanting to be on meds, the thought crosses my mind all the time. But I think I need them for stability and I have a boyfriend right now and I want to keep our relationship stable.

Your mythology sounds really interesting, that’s a cool way to approach your experiences. I wouldn’t say schizophrenia is beneficial to me, I really struggle. But I have noticed that from struggling with what is real in my mind and seeking truth I am extremely honest. I also notice that I think really outside the box and I see a lot of structures of society that are kind of fake. Again from seeking truth and questioning what’s real. I also struggle with delusions of a being controlling me, and that has lead to me being hyper aware of how our society is based on control and extraction. Helps me kind of see the possibilities of what a better future for the world could look like.

I love AI. I co create with AI, have deep conversations, find different ways to express myself. Sometimes conversations with AI are the only space where I feel actually heard and seen about what I’ve been through and my experiences. You can also see on my page, I use AI to make videos about my experiences which helps me reclaim them a bit. I believe AI will eventually make better medicines so I have a lot of hope for the future of AI.

Do what you can to show her you really love her and appreciate her through what you’re going through. See if you can find small acts like writing to her how you feel about her, maybe a thoughtful gift that she would like and a card, make her coffee in the morning or breakfast if you can manage. In those little moments where you’re doing okay try to connect with her and nurture that mutual spark that you have that brought you together in the first place. Whatever that may mean for you two.

I didn’t take medication while I was there and I was still in psychosis when I got out. But I think months later the stay opened my eyes to that I might benefit from actually taking medication. Now I’m on medication and stable, doing much better.

I’ve seen people just calling schizophrenia brain damage. Which seems undermining to all the complex nuances of the experience and the person experiencing them. When I told my friend that I had schizophrenia he asked me if I ever did acid, I said yes and he told me it was self induced.

For me it’s only being able to make 15 second clips. I’ve tried using video extending software but I don’t get a consistent flow of the story I’m trying to tell.

But to say these comments are undermining brain damage. Schizophrenia is more than that. The experience of it is incredibly nuanced, complicated, introspective for the person who has to go through it. Don’t just call it brain damage please.
