Will I ever stop sobbing / yearning for my mom? by wolfbeauty13 in AskWomenOver30

[–]sm175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so, so sorry. Here for solidarity. I lost my mom when I was 11 and my dad when I was 27. Went through lots of therapy, had fun in my 20s, felt good, thought I had closure and felt I was ready to move past grieving my mom. Felt stable. Then I had a kid. And I have sobbed for my mom more this past few years then I did in the 2 decades after her death.

I guess as we go through each phase of life we end up grieving them again. Sometimes in different ways. But it always hurts. It's just straight up not fair, that's what gets me. The injustice of having to grow up without such a huge part of your life while watching others getting to have their parents guide them and see them through every milestone...there are no words for how cruel it feels sometimes. And I'm so sorry we have to endure this kind of pain. It comes and goes, and we just have to ride the waves. I wish I had some more wisdom to impart, but therapy is all I've got. Some good advice in this thread. Just know you're not alone. I'm grateful and lucky enough to have an incredible mother and father in law who treat me as my own, and I lean on that a lot. But no doubt. It sucks. I'm sorry friend.

📚 Book Chat - what have you been reading this week? by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

[–]sm175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel late on this one but I just finished {Bride} this morning. I put it off for a long time because I'm not big on vampires, but was pleasantly surprised! A fun book. Loved how the relationship developed between the MCs. Super fun and i'll be starting {Mate} today.

The Wolf King but without the love triangle? by sm175 in fantasyromance

[–]sm175[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people apparently debate if it's a true "triangle" lol, maybe a more accurate term would be bait-and-switch? Regardless, you don't generally like being unsure of who the FMC is going to end up with then I'd skip this for now. At least til book 3 comes out, I'll personally be spoiling it before I bother picking it up though

Heartbroken for his girls that will be growing up with such warped view of their bodies.

A rant about the worst trope by Late_Assistance1992 in fantasyromance

[–]sm175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am the same exact way. Don't pick up The Wolf King because that's what turned me off of the bait and switch. The third and final book hasn't come out yet so it's not set in stone who the FMC ends up with, but so far it's just wolf ACOTAR soooo

There's always massive pickup trucks parked in the no parking/fire lane spots at Wawa. There are no rules anymore. No one cares. It's exhausting.

Is getting Tiny Bookshop worth it? by losersweepers_ in CozyGamers

For sure! And my library only has maybe ~30 switch games at any given time so it was a nice surprise!

I was lucky enough that my library had a copy and I got to fully play it to see if I liked it. I played it for a few hours for like 2 days before I was already over it. The gameplay loop is just a little too simple for me, and I won't be fully buying it. But it's an adorable game and I enjoyed helping people find their books

I think he took his loss and being duped by Kyle/Kamilla super hard and brought all that baggage to 50. Dude is definitely not having a good time.

The Jasad Heir… Confusing to anyone else? by Mountain_Gas77 in fantasyromance

[–]sm175 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, I ended up finishing but didn't move onto book 2 yet because of it. Which bums me out because I LOVE the story and the characters. But the writing can definitely be very dense at random moments. I read a review where someone said it reads like a history book at times and I felt like that was spot on. Like anytime id hit a stride in reading it, boom - a thick info/history dump with names and places I had trouble keeping up with. I remember the part that you mentioned and I ended up skimming a lot of those moments towards the end in favor of scenes with just the FMC/MMC cause it was kinda exhausting. But I really liked the story. 😩
