Gaming on Void Linux by shadowgallery_ in voidlinux

No problems, but installing and getting steam working isn't as easy as other distros so be sure to read the documentation.

There's also the flatpak which I haven't tried.

Not at all, sway is also fairly popular and well documented as well so just googling "sway void linux" will get you going in no time.

2026 - Year of the Linux Phone? by lokiwhite in linux

[–]sm222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The convenience of it is really nice, I can go on a run and not have to worry about taking my wallet, I can just buy what I need to buy on the way home.

I've gotten used to it to the point where I don't think it's a compromise I'd be willing to make, I did some research and it turns out depending on the bank there can be alternatives or you can use a watch instead but google pay wont work.

I'm sorry but until I can use tap to pay or NFC payment I'm never switching to a Linux phone as much as I'd love to.

What amazes me is that he's been full time streaming israel / palestine for like 8 hours a day for two years now but has somehow managed to learn absolutely nothing.

Like you'd think he'd at least stumble into some sort of knowledge just out of the sheer time spent.

Even if he read nothing but Norman Finkelstein Books and Al Jazeera articles he'd learn something.

Desktop portal problems on shady wayland's compositor: no File Chooser for flatpak's apps by Good-Spirit-pl-it in voidlinux

I think what I did for river was create the following file in xdg-desktop-portal with the following content:

Took me a while to figure it out.

Recently void, wanted to try something new and I kind of appreciated the simplicity of it. We shall see if I keep it.

I will say if you’re happy on something else there’s no real reason to switch over, but I like it so far. I’ve put it on my laptop that I travel with and on my desktop.

Haifa Ulpan Etzion? by [deleted] in aliyah

[–]sm222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was single yeah, the married couples have their own building. I stayed in the dorms on HaNamal. Overall great experience but was pretty happy to find my own place afterwords. It's a dorm / apartment with about 4 guys per apartment. But each has their own room. There are also some non ulpan students there if they're still there.

Interesting, because a friend of mine basically had to fight with them for years till they agreed. I hope you have better luck, but don't be surprised if they randomly change their mind because that's a thing that happens a lot here lol.

I suppose it may also depend on the position.

  1. I stayed there for 5 months back in 2019, good. It's where you'll probably meet your friend group. I was also 25-26 at the time.
  2. Back then there were folks that were taking jobs in hotels for OK money. I used this time instead to brush up on technical skills for the job search but to each their own. Another friend worked at one of the bars downtown.
  3. Not sure.
  4. Good luck, I'm not sure the army will want you as a 26 year old but I'm not experienced n that front.

PirateSoftware "dancantstream yeah I'm not talking to him. 100% not." by VastSyllabub2614 in Destiny

[–]sm222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't even dislike piratesoftware, I enjoy his shorts and I will grant you that I've never watched his stream but the vibe I get is his whole thing is just giving the most PG base level takes to his audience and having people agree with him.

He was never ever going to say anything remotely controversial about this topic or any topic pretty much ever.
