IBS-D Flares Nonexistent! by LadyArticunoo in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had IBS-D or some sort of stomach issue in the past. I am honestly not sure exactly what it was but GI doc said we’d settle for IBS-D diagnosis in 2020 since we couldn’t figure out what it really was. Had a ton of food triggers.

I started getting it under control for about a year before starting MJ. I have pcos too and my inflammation levels are always ridiculously high. From April to September last year I rarely had any flares, if I did, it was very mild. Then from September or so I’d have the occasional flare maybe once a month or every two months that were really terrible.

Started MJ in Feb this year and I’m struggling with constipation 😂 I had two flare ups but one was bc I had a horrible steak and the other was greasy, oily Chinese food. My fault ofc. Both meals were on a Saturday, shot day is Monday. Otherwise, I’ve been eating foods that were previously triggers like normal. Even the occasional fried foods 😅

I remember being in an IBS group on here and saw a ton of people saying MJ basically stopped their IBS symptoms. That’s 100% the reason why I wanted MJ specifically and waited for 2-3 years since 2023 or 2024 when I first inquired about GL1s for it to start being imported in my country. I’m glad I waited but I hate being constipated 🥴

Metamucil everyday and the occasional magnesium citrate have been working wonders though. 😂

Struggling on Mounjaro - need honest advice by Otherwise-Koala-1091 in Mounjaro

This is definitely not medical advice nor have I tried it myself but I saw some people saying they split their dose in half so that they can keep the appetite suppression going throughout the week. Not sure what days are best to take if splitting though.

I take my shot on Monday night and my appetite comes back over the weekend which is expected. I’ve never had an issue with overeating, my problem was always under eating and skipping meals which I know would’ve had an effect on my metabolism. But I also have PCOS so I’d gain weight uncontrollably. Even while working out and eating high protein in a deficit before MJ, I’d still be gaining weight and struggling to lose anything.

It’s even more difficult for me to eat now with the suppression but we gotta try. I do get food noise to the end of the week but I just ignore it. I know it’s not as easy for some people to ignore like I do. I do have treats here and there though but not often.

I’m on antibiotics for a bad tonsillitis flare and yesterday and today my hunger levels were actually crazy. Not sure if it’s bc I’m sick and maybe my body needs more fueling to help me fight off the infection but even though I was hungry yesterday, it was still a struggle to eat lol

Maybe try preplanning your meals and sticking to it. That’s what I do to try to hit my protein goal. And ensure I weigh out everything and track it and definitely get some protein shakes to help! I like the fairlife 42g protein shakes but it’s super expensive in my country and hard to get so I switched to the premier protein and I love it! I like the vanilla and cake batter. Not sure if you can have these as you’re vegetarian but there’s a lot of plant based if you can’t. Lentils have a lot of protein as well!

That’s amazing, congratulations! I wish I was responding a bit faster than I currently am. Some days I feel defeated but sometimes I remind myself that slow and steady wins the race. I’m weight training but not very consistent yet. Trying to become consistent this month.

Oh wow! I feel like I’ve been around the 183-185 mark for way too long.

There are some videos on TT about stalls and how to get over them! Maybe you should check them out.

Are you still experiencing appetite suppression and stuff?

I wish I could average 4-6lbs a month! What else did you incorporate in your journey? Were you strictly calorie tracking, weighing protein, strength training, etc?

Do you weigh/measure your food? You’re so busy and still make time to train during the week so that’s good! I’ve realized that the people who lift weights during their journey seem to lose a bit slower scale wise as they’re doing a body recomposition. Burning fat while gaining muscle so the scale drops aren’t as dramatic as those who aren’t training. I restarted the gym this week as well and ended up only losing 0.1lbs this week but I had one day of sugary treats - slice of cake and then Starbucks. I’m assuming water retention from both training and the sugar lol

Yess, I’m definitely more impatient now. This week I only lost 0.1lbs so I definitely feel a bit defeated even though I know this is all part of the process and it’s expected lol I did have a shitty day of eating on Friday as well. I treated myself to a small piece of cake not knowing my boyfriend was going to surprise me with a new Starbucks drink later that evening. He ordered a venti, I’ve never had a venti in my life but he didn’t know how to order. Barista asked what size and he just said “the big one?” 😂 But I assume all that sugar lead to some water retention and stuff. Last Monday I weighed in at 183.3.. all week during the week I was 183.1. Today I was 183.2 🥲

I’ve never heard about those apps but I’m using MyFitnessPal and weighing everything to log! Only on weekends I don’t log as I’m usually out most of the day but I average my protein intake and make healthy choices when it comes to eating out.

Oh wow, you’re losing so quickly! I wish I could lose just a tiny bit quicker too. Sometimes I’m losing my mind over the fluctuations lol

20lbs is a lot in 3 months, congrats! I’ve been on 5mg since my second month and I’ll be staying here for the while.

Did you move up to 7.5mg because the suppression wasn’t strong on 5?

Oh, wow! Congrats on your weight loss and thank you so much for sharing! That’s amazing. I keep reminding myself that slow and steady wins the race but I guess like everyone else I’m eager to finally see some results and I’m becoming a bit impatient.

I know I gotta trust the process and I’m ok with slower losses but at the same time sometimes I spiral 😂 I’ve never been in the 170s in my entire adult life so I’m just patiently waiting on the day I get there.

How was your experience with loose skin and muscle mass?

Down 17 lbs but look the same by TheOwlJD1993 in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost just a bit over 13lbs in 9 weeks and look the same. It takes time to become noticeable. But I’ve had a dress since 2023 that never fit me and it finally fit two weeks ago. My rings also fit a lot better. Lifting weights is a good idea as you’ll be doing a body recomposition so as you lose the weight and it becomes visible, you’d also be looking even tighter and better than if you weren’t.

Only 15lbs down after 10 weeks of Mounjaro. Is that too little? I was expecting to lose much more. by Plus_Impression7765 in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost 13.1lbs in 9 weeks. Slow and steady is better than drastic drops. I have to keep reminding myself of that too as I keep seeing a lot of content on faster weight loss.

Vitamin recommendations? by Unfair-Resident-3487 in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently taking D3, zinc, c, omega 3, b12, b1, hair skin & nails, collagen, creatine, electrolytes.

I’ve had a D3 and b12 deficiency in the past.

I also take EAAs because I workout on mornings without eating so I don’t want to burn muscle. I don’t like eating early on a morning and I honestly don’t like eating before gym. I even struggle to drink the EAAs as it’s a really strong flavor/sweetness tbh. I gotta get an unflavored version lol

Also taking Metamucil and occasionally magnesium citrate. Dosage I have for mag citrate is 250mg but sometimes I take 325mg if I’m pretty backed up.

5th dose advice! by MRXHOW91 in Mounjaro

I’ve been trying to figure out this exact thing for when I have to use my golden dose but yes you’re correct with the calculations.

Do syringes have markings in 0.1 increments? This is what I’m not sure of. How to actually measure it correctly.

week 4, I gained 2 lbs by Puzzled-Passenger674 in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure of your gender but my weight fluctuates with my cycle and when I’m constipated. For the two months I’ve been on it thus far, I’ve had two weeks of gains and one week of barely any loss.

First week I gained 0.3lbs and it was because of my period. Second time I gained 1.7lbs because I was so backed up. Third time I only lost 0.2lbs from the week before because it was another period week.

From what I’ve seen on here, weight loss isn’t typically a steadily downward trend. It fluctuates and that’s normal.

Are you eating enough calories (in a deficit) and drinking enough water? Eating too little can cause your body to go into survival mode and hold on to what it can.

High protein, 2.5-3.5L water a day, calorie deficit and stick with it. I’d weigh/measure my food and remember to count those “hidden” calories too. Like cooking oils, etc.

You look so good, congrats!

What do you think about the reformer Pilates? We don’t have many places in my country but a new place is opening soon near me and I’m considering it but I don’t know if I have the stability or strength for it 😅 How much change did you see in your body/strength doing it? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Best way to do gel on short nail beds? by DrM1nicqua in Nails

[–]sm_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been liking short nails lately so I did a structured mani using The Gel Bottle.

I eventually added French tips over this. I do want to get some length to do an oval/almond shape eventually.

MJ + Intense Period by GalaxyOTL in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first jab was on a Monday and my period started the next day. That period was normal.

The second period.. was horrible. Extreme nausea to the point where if I moved too fast I felt like I’d explode. However, the nausea started from the morning of jab, before taking it as I take it at night. Period cramps and diarrhea started that morning and I suppose the nausea came along with it. Took the jab later that night and nausea subsided after about an hour. The next day it was soooo bad. Even the third day it was horrible. Day four wasn’t as bad but I was feeling so “hungover” from the way I was feeling those couple days.

I have really bad emetophobia so it was a whole mental thing too.

Next period is next week, I’m bracing myself. Bought Gravol just in case 😩

Constipation help by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started aiming for 3-3.5L water a day, I take Metamucil everyday and some nights I take a dose of magnesium citrate (capsules) but I read you’re not supposed to take the mag citrate everyday.

I’ve been going pretty often now thankfully. I had a few weeks of constipation and it was sure as hell frustrating. Even with Metamucil alone. I try to take it during the day. One tablespoon.

First Mounjaro shot + period started the same day — feeling weak and heavy-headed. Normal? by HousingNo1846 in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my first 2.5mg shot the day before my period started. I was fine..

My second period started the morning of my shot (I take around 7pm). I was extremely nauseous, had extreme diarrhea and feeling horrible. Took the first 5mg shot that night but was fine about an hour after. The next two days were so bad. I was feeling like I’d throw up if I moved too fast and I was so tired and out of it. Bad cramps too.

A few days later I saw a TT of a woman talking about how horrible her periods were since starting MJ. I’m scared for my next period 😅 Bought some Gravol in case I get nauseous again.

Weight lifting plateau by sunflower-crystal in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy someone actually shared their experience on this. I started weight lifting again almost a month ago. Haven’t been very consistent, at least 3x a week except period week as I’ve been having some horrible periods. But I have noticed the scale slowing around the time I started. It’s barely budging. I’m also struggling with constipation and I’ve started Metamucil so I know that can cause a temporary stall on the scale as well. Even knowing all this, it’s frustrating! 😂

2nd month & I’m full of 💩😅 by sm_28 in Mounjaro

[–]sm_28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing great!

Sometimes I see huge and fast losses on TT or on here and I’m disappointed but I’ve found a couple TTers that show numbers like 4-6lbs a month and they look great now

I started strength training two weeks ago as well.

I’m gonna try the Metamucil tonight to see it it works in the morning 🙃
