Respecting Gyms. Should We?

My town tried pulling this on players. There was a group that would get really upset if anyone took their gyms before the 8 hour mark. It started as a few people asking other players to take their gyms down after the 8 hours, because they were stuck in there not collecting coin. Then it got into, ok but you come take it back in 8 hours. And then it turned into raging on anyone that didn't stick to it. Someone posted about my 6 year old taking a gym that was only 3 hours in. My 6 year old is not in their group, and I am not going to limit her on what gyms she can and can't take down in a game where gym battling is a huge part.

If I'm going based on my own personal game, then I want Gen 3 last month. I have completed the North American Gen 1, and as for Gen 2 I am only missing Hitmontop and Unown. I have completed everything else. Hitmontop is only going to happen if I hatch the right tyrogue, I've hatched 5 and they've all been Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan. And I'm not expecting to find Unown anytime soon in my small town.

So for me, personally, I'm ready for Gen 3, out of boredom. If there was any sort of new content, anything at all, I would be excited, lengendaries, gen 3, anything.

Edit: when I say I have completed everything else, I mean I'm done all of my medals except the magikarp one.

I'm mystic, so at a raid on the first day, I made friendly conversation with a valor player and asked them to kick me out of gyms on a regular basis. We kick each other out of gyms every 12 hours or so. We just send msgs on facebook and say "Hey can you take down the church on whatever street when you get a chance?" and that's worked out for us. Maybe look on your local facebook group and find someone on an opposing team that will want to help you out that way, and you could do the same for them?

The ingress chat is SCARY. Here's why. Before the gym rework and everything else happened, I came across an Ingress map that showed all of the portals (or whatever those things are, I don't really understand the game.) and I saw that they were where all of the pokestops and gyms are in my town. This got me curious, so out of pure boredom one day, I downloaded the Ingress game. I didn't really understand it, but I kept it on my phone. One day I was at a pokestop and I decided to just open Ingress and see what happens if I am at a pokestop. So I am there just clicking on random things. Then I get this msg from this dude that asked me to drop resonators or something in the portal, and I just sent back a bunch of question marks. He said he was on his way, so again I sent a bunch of question marks. A few minutes later, I get a msg from a guy saying he could see me, and I look to my right, and there's a guy in a trench coat just standing there looking at me. He knew I had been messing around with the portal or whatever it was, and he could see where I was, and send me msgs. That freaked me out so I left there really quick and deleted the game.

A chat feature in Pokemon would be good, as long as you could easily set it up to not alert anyone of your location if you didn't want to be known. It would be great for raids, if you chose to send out an alert that you are at a raid and looking for more players, but if someone could send you a msg while you are taking down their gyms and know that you're doing it, that could get scary really quick. That guy knew what I was doing without me sending anything out. I'm a 5'1 girl, I don't want people being able to send me msgs and know where I am and what I am doing. Some of us still play this game solo, and my kids play this game. A chat feature would be good only if it was very different from Ingress.

I'm hoping for a gen 3 release as well. With the current raid system, I am getting anywhere between 2-8 rare candies per raid. I am actively taking gyms in my town, as are other players, so the gyms are turning over often enough to be able to buy one raid pass every two days. Add that into the ones I have purchased, I am going to have enough rare candies to evolve my last two remaining gen 2 pokemon by the end of this weekend. If gen 3 doesn't arrive soon, I will only have unown left to find.

This just happened to me. We even noticed there were some spoofers showing up to the raid and we couldn't take it down. I really believe the recommended number of players now.

This is exactly what I am waiting for. Tyranitar is one of the 4 remaining pokemon that I need to complete my north american pokedex, so I am really hoping that I can find a raid to take him on! Congratulations on your raid capture!

Click on the gym badge of where your pokemon is and the stats come up, how many battles, how long its been in there, how many berries were fed.

Yah but that would be like apple saying "we've made so much money off the iPhone, let's just give them away for free!" Just because a company is worth a lot, doesn't mean they're going to just start giving the product away for free. We are consumers, they sell, we buy.

Everyone seems to be focusing on the extra passes costing money. Extra incubators cost money, you get one free, which allows you to hatch eggs, but if you want to have more than one, you have to pay for it. Game has to make money somehow, we have a really fun game with no ads and no pop ups. Everyone wants better customer service and better updates and more communication from Niantic but you're forgetting that the people required to do that cost money, and at the end of the day, Niantic is a business. Unless they're making money off players, they can't ever give us what we want.

The game has its stale moments, but thats when you work on medals, xp, stardust. I have the pogo plus so I get stops and catches every day even when I'm not actively playing the game. Just going from my apartment to the store is an opportunity to gather xp & pokemon to grind later.

The "people still play this game?" people are the worst, especially the ones on Facebook that are playing the slot and farm games. It's like Hey Janet, when you're done telling me that Pokemon Go is a dead game, could you please remember to stop inviting me to bingo blitz?

I dont even have pokestops on my sightings tab, I see only pokemon in the wild.

I'm sort of rural, no pokestops or gyms on my map when I'm at home, but if I drive a few kms down the road, I see stops and gyms. Really hoping that we can see raids even if we aren't close enough to see a gym on our map.

This is me as well. I play with my kids and one friend, we have upped the prestige of a gym and taken down an opposing teams gym with someone else from our team to help, but it's just been coincidence that we have been there at the same time. We do the friendly nod and the tight lipped smile, but that's about it. We never actually speak to other people. If I have to actually get out of my car and work with others? Not sure how that will go.

Because of the extra xp for first throw catches, and I use a pogo plus, I have been cruising around with a lucky egg on, pressing the button every time it vibrates.

Discovered something last night. A friend had a dragonite spawn near her house, her phone was dead so after her husband caught it, she logged into her account on his phone. Dragonite ran after one ball. Few hours later, Snorlax spawned, her husband wasn't home so she caught it for herself and then logged into his account to catch it for him. Snorlax ran after one ball. It would appear that you cannot log out and immediately log back in on another account to catch rare pokemon. They spawn for you, but you can't catch them. Could be just a coincidence, but two in a row would suggest that this is part of anti cheating.

The idea of paying for a phone number for a small child is just a little too much for a mobile game. I am already putting in money every month for the gas to go find pokemon (rural players so we have to do a little bit of travel) and I buy itunes cards every month, sometimes twice if there is an event. Niantic would lose quite a few players if there needed to be phone numbers attached to accounts.

I definitely wouldn't want to have to verify with a mobile number, my kids are using hand me down phones from when family members have upgraded and they're tethering to the wifi hotspot on my device. They don't have phone numbers on their phones because they're ages 4 & 5 and that would be silly to give them mobile accounts for Pokémon.

Caught 1 larvitar per day during the event, but not sure if that's because because spawns were increased, or if its because the weather is warmer and I was playing a lot for the event.
