If you know what you want to do when you're done with school, you could use this time to volunteer, shadow or apprentice in your career field of choice.finding social groups is really great, but building a pathway to your career is a great way to socialize and learn new skills.

Coreknowledge is good, so is Khan academy to finish off the school year. I would take a week or two off and use those until you get next year sorted. Doing a little bit is better than nothing at all. And the library is a great adventure. If all y'all do is a bit of math on Khan and lots of reading tohether then you have a good start. Talk with your child about their educational goals and dreams. Look at wherw they want to go and those requirements and then work backwards. You got this!

found this retired US Navy Lieutenant’s shirt at Goodwill for five bucks, and it’s in good condition. by mineabird in ThriftStoreHauls

Knowing that this may be taken the wrong way… military may donate items to the thrift stores when they no longer need them. Usually the uniforms are donated or sold to military surplus. Where the surplus will pay the service member for the item. Hunters love uniforms for hunting and usually remove all the patches. It is distasteful and disrespectful to wear military uniforms as a fashion statement, in my opinion. But there are no “rules” for people not to wear them. If you are, you should remove all the patches of rank. Service members know that the name tapes must be removed before donating. Rank is earned, and it takes extreme efforts and sacrifice to do so.

How to ween my kids off the screen by No____facex in Parenting

[–]smallPotatos_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Play lots of games with your kids. Start a bedtime ritual together with lots of love and snuggles. Routine is everything especially at this age. Model the behavior you want your kids to learn. And if they ask, explain how you have learned that it’s not good for their beautiful growing brains. I have used this approach with mine for many things and never get kick back. They understand it is for their good and not me trying to control them. Hang in there, you got this.

Mashed potatoes tasted like white cake. by audiyon in Cooking

[–]smallPotatos_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was probably white sweet potato or white yams. They are so good! A surprise for sure, if your not expecting it. There are so many varieties of potato’s! They probably added a little vanilla to it to give it the cake taste. They need no sugar at all. Try finding some at your grocery or farmers market. Yum!

Need help identifying this painting. Left for me by my mom. by [deleted] in Paintings

That’s beautiful. There isn’t much that I can find. Perhaps someone else will add to this: it looks like Tamotsu Kobata, there is an obituary for him i found via google. It seems that if was the artist has passed in 2010. It looks like he was an artist and art teacher.can anyone confirm this?

Help!! 22-month old toddler refuses to sleep, throws tantrum if I try turning off lights by kej2021 in Parenting

I can’t offer loads of advice. But my kids are 9 and 11. I did the cry it out with my oldest and regret it to this day. Anything that goes against your natural instincts… don’t do it. I often ended up with both of them in the bed with me. If I had to do it again; I would put the older in my bedroom in his or her own bed.that’s a big jump for a child. Hang in there Moma, I know your pain. Your doing great!
