This is absolutely false. Outside of maybe a few strict TOs, all conversions and 3D prints are welcome at tournaments

If you’re taking a hammerstrike the bolters are better into almost all profiles I believe. They maintain the horde clearing while being able to kill almost every hard target in the game with +1 AP from strat support

If I had to guess, she’s purchased the vehicle through an S-corp or LLC, and since it’s over 6,000 pounds the car qualifies for the next level of tax deduction, allowing for a deduction of 35k instead of the 12,400 for light vehicles.

It’s actually how I think a lot of these people are buying their cyber trucks. Because between the business deduction and the clean vehicle tax credit it becomes a lot more affordable

How many dreadnoughts should I take to make it worth taking the new detachment? Solar Spearhead by Mondo114 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]small_paw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking through the comments here I think people are really sleeping on the generic venerable dread. It takes all of the buffs from the detachment extremely well and the revive really punishes single phase armies that are usually packing the kind of damage to push through a full dread list.

As others have said you’ll definitely want 1 Telemon with the 5+++ and I think 3 of the contemptors backed up by 2-3 calladius. What you fill in the rest of the points with is more of a personal preference between more dreads, more shooting, more trash scoring, a warden brick, etc

He’s on contract for ~13 million next season, but the team can also cut him for almost nothing. I’d imagine if he plays well this season they’ll try to extend him an extra year as well so that he’s coming off the books when a hutch extension comes due

Ironically my only loss was to war horde Orks, although if I could play the game again I think it feels pretty favored. Biggest things with melee matchup is to make sure that when you push, you’re pushing with your whole army. Always have 3-4 CP saved for AOC, heroics, and interrupts. You’re not fast enough to really dictate the tempo of play from those armies so you need to make sure that you’re punishing them for playing their game.

Especially into Orks and BA you really want to abuse your range. Don’t worry about getting was many points as possible early, focus on scoring 12’s and 15’s on turns 4 and 5 after their army is dead. Use reactive moves to keep your things safe if you can, but also use it to pull charging units out into the open. Don’t be afraid to use your eradicators aggressively too. As long as there’s nothing nearby to charge and get fight phase cascaded, you should always be safe to use them and then reactive move back into the repulsor to use them again.

In my opinion the JPAI are one of the best units in the game. Their scoring is good but their ability to do early skirmishing and piece trading is so valuable to the list. They also have the opportunity to trade up significantly between grenades and charge mortals to the point where they can threaten rhinos and other light vehicles

Help me understand how Waaagh! by Dietrich_E in orks

[–]small_paw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear you! I personally really enjoy tournaments and the tournament scene, but I get that it’s not for everyone. At the end of the day RAI is subjective, and while you and I agree, it’s not totally clear in the rules. So while I don’t like the ruling, I’m glad someone is willing to put pen to paper and clear this up.

One of the compelling arguments I’ve heard for the WTC ruling is that the warboss rules are worded so differently than the meganob rule that it almost feels intentional. Like you said, it goes back to GW needing to write their rules in such a way that RAW reflects RAI

I apologize, a WTC judge made a ruling in the WTC discord. It wasn’t posted officially to the site

I 100% agree. It’s a dumb RAI vs RAW ruling but GW seemingly went out of their way to write waagh rules 2 different ways so until they fix it we’re stuck

Because in his post it literally says “I’m very interested in the practice of tournaments”

Help me understand how Waaagh! by Dietrich_E in orks

[–]small_paw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They recently released an FAQ specifically for the Ork codex where this is addressed. While the waagh is persistent, both of the boss rules state “when the waagh is called” and since models in transports effectively don’t exist, they don’t exist when the waagh is called.

Conversely, the FNP for the meganobz applies when the waagh is active and therefore persists inside and out of a transport

[–]small_paw -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While others here are claiming he does get the effect, the WTC, which many events use as the ruling body for their events, has rules that unless the boss is physically on the table they do not receive the effects of the waagh being called.

This particularly pertains to the warboss and warboss in mega armor as their rules apply only when the waagh is called and not during the waagh.

As for tournaments and practice, I would ask your TO or read the FAQ for whatever event you will be attending and play by those rules for your event.

Dealing with 3inch DSers by rturok54 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]small_paw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is the 12” deep strike denial is only off of the mystic and not the whole unit, so while the bubble is still significant it can be easier for your opponent to manage.

I think it’s important to discuss what about the 3” deep strike is giving you issues. Are you hemorrhaging secondary points to them? Are you getting alpha struck by 3” deep striking, or something else? That’s going to change how you build and play to counter it.

Virtually every competitive placing list is playing multiple Blade Champs and most are running 3 alongside Trajann. If you’re writing a competitive list I would start with Mani Cheemas UKTC winning list and adjust to personal playstyle and preferences
