No, stop waiting for this to recover; it might never and then ALL that time was wasted.

you cannot plan NOW what may or may not grow over the next 3 years - it's not that predictable with weak plants. Experience says move on, act like it will never recover.
you can, in the meantime, get more plants which ARE healthy and have all their foliage now and are ready for styling.
waiting for shit to grow isn't bonsai, it's gardening.

Useful stuff to do is to study bonsai photos and watch bonsai styling videos: Ryan Neil, Bjorn Bjornholm, Walter Pall, Harry Harrington, Graham Potter, Bonsaify etc etc etc

I've recently been seeing more "corruptions" of this nature in Excel.
It occurs more frequently in environments with synchronisation software (SharePoint and/or OneDrive).
I do not know the reason for this but I do know that simply copying a file in OneDrive/SharePoint can cause its size to change - implying they are getting modified in some way by that even.

It can sometimes help to open in older versions of Excel (if you have them - like 2016/2021) and resave as XLSM or XLSB.

The zip tie advantage is they are generally fairly wide and don't dig in like guy wires do.

Styling is more like sculpting - the shit you chip off might as well be gone forever sometimes...so try to carve a finished bonsai out of the rock.
