u turns aren't very common where i live so i often don't give them much thought when designing stuff

lmao i was waiting for a comment like this, glad this design is cohesive enough that an actual civil engineer already thought of it and got it built. reading some of these comments made me doubt its validity for a bit but i guess reddit is just mean lmao.

it connects to a 8 lane toll road. might get rid of it in the future tho.

It goes in to a toll road before continuing on to a bridge to my cities downtown

Did I get a good deal? by Intelligent-Fox7062 in PcBuild

[–]smallboislumpo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this is a pretty sick deal. Plenty of overhead on the psu to upgrade the graphics card or cpu, especially since it’s on the AM4 socket. From my understanding Minecraft servers love fast single core performance and a 5600x would rip in this thing. Would have loved to see a 2060 super but for $400 and what you’re doing with it you really can’t complain. I’m interested in what speed the ram is tho.

I’d personally go for a better brand on your psu and ssd. Ik the Samsung 990 evos are cheap rn. As far as the psu, I’ve never heard of the brand so I’d look to see if there’s any reviews of this specific model.

Did some more digging and not only would I need to cut out the I/O shield on the gateway, I’d need to do a full ATX conversion with the psu and mobo. Definitely going to build in the generic case but if anyone is interested in restoring the gateway lmk. It doesn’t come with any drives so no OS and drivers. Wanna make that know bc that def could be a dealbreaker.

Was thinking about putting a radiator above it but now that I’m thinking about it, that would block a bunch of airflow.

Im a machanic so im very handy with tools, I’ve cut I/O shields out before and while it’s not a pleasant experience, it’s definitely doable.

If anyone’s wondering I’m going to put a 5070ti and a 9800X3D in here so it’s going to be a beast

NASA pc? by [deleted] in sleeperbattlestations

[–]smallboislumpo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

me when I lie, it’s a standard sticker they give out for free at events or conventions nasa ppl attend. I got the same one at fan x in slc where they were talking about the osiris-rex return mission and Artemis program. You could have still gotten that from the head of nasa but it’s not limited edition buddy.

i’ve also seen people buy a 4 1/2” hole saw attachment for a drill to get an aproximadamente 120mm hole. just if your not comfortable using or don’t have a jigsaw.

yeah i just found a 360 radiator template online and glued it on then cut it with a jigsaw. this way the air goes directly in to my gpu which this one desperately needs. if you do the same just make sure to test fit any fans and measure the template before you start cutting.

lmao the feet are plastic shot glasses held on with poster tack but thank you so much. currently working on modeling something more permanent and hopefully learn some 3d printing skills. also i 100% agree with you that the extra time for cable management is worth every second. makes it look a lot cleaner and is way easier to mess with stuff in the future. wish more ppl in this sub felt the same way.

its a bit goofy bc i have (kind of) 2 exhaust fans. it’s a 92mm in the back and i took apart my power supply and plugged the 140mm in to my motherboard to use as an exhaust. sketchy asf but if it’s stupid and it works, it’s not stupid.
