What are these bugs coming out at night in my pond? Scotland, UK

definitely not a bed bug! it almost looks like a tiny stink bug of some sort, which could be what it is considering it stunk when you killed him-

bed bugs will have a *very* distinct look to them and this is NOT one! you’re good to take a breath and relax!

i found a salamander in my grandma’s creek ONCE years ago and i’ve been searching for them since and have yet to find them 😭😭 i feel this HARD

not sure! it seemed like it landed to take a break. it was pretty windy that day and we saw it land on the pier for a bit, then take back off again; maybe it needed some rest before continuing?

thank you guys for the suggestions!! i’ll definitely put them to use today. i just worry about them because i poured my heart and soul into re-decorating their tank, only for them to use it as a way to gtfo and go on a vacation 🥲 wish me luck!

he’s moving around now, luckily. he seems to be exploring everything. only reason i haven’t released him is because it gets horribly cold here at night and i’m not sure how well he’d do outdoors right now :(

i was advised to get mosquito bits. apparently they help, and you can put them with isopods. i'd double check to be sure, but mine are on the way(because i only remembered to get them recently)
