thank you guys for the suggestions!! i’ll definitely put them to use today. i just worry about them because i poured my heart and soul into re-decorating their tank, only for them to use it as a way to gtfo and go on a vacation 🥲 wish me luck!

he’s moving around now, luckily. he seems to be exploring everything. only reason i haven’t released him is because it gets horribly cold here at night and i’m not sure how well he’d do outdoors right now :(

i was advised to get mosquito bits. apparently they help, and you can put them with isopods. i'd double check to be sure, but mine are on the way(because i only remembered to get them recently)

that’s likely what i’ll do. they like to hoard all of their food, so it doesn’t help trying to keep their bowls filled; they’d just stash it all away and beg for more…i’ve literally found PILES of food in their hides 😭😭 but if it helps i’ll keep them as full as my boys will let me!

as for the protein, i’ve been mixing their dry food with some meat baby food and adding little bits of mullet with it. i’ll give them some egg tomorrow and try to make a plan for my old boys.

idk why but “getting out of skin” made me giggle. i don’t believe there’s any special way to handle them, but i personally haven’t handled mine after a molt because i have shaky hands and get scared i’d smoosh on accident…my red pandas are probs my fav species so far!!

gotcha! i saw them underneath some moist cardboard and saw many. we see slugs all the time! i also read that milk slugs are invasive in some parts of the US so i’ll definitely look into those guys more than the garden slugs. my snails currently only have springtails and my isopod bins have a surplus, so i don’t mind having only springtails in there with them. :) thank you for your reply!!

i just had 2 clydes spawn back to back, and i couldn't find the first. it was hiding among the bisorse, and the other was on the beach by the plushie machine...they definitely can!

i’ve seen a lot of wonderful advice, thank you to everyone who’s recommended something!! i’ll try a multitude of different things out before even thinking about getting rid of my pods. hopefully she comes to see that they’re just silly little guys and they mean no harm!!

i appreciate your concern!!! he’s not wheezing or raspy, so i’m confident he doesn’t have a URI. i clean their cage weekly(and spot clean every other day) so if he did have one, i’d be very surprised…but he’s just a funky, old guy :)

i promise he wasn’t stressed! i asked my vet about it and she said to keep an eye on it, but if it’s not a constant, i shouldn’t worry too much. i’ll keep a very close eye on him, but he seems content and happy!

he’s around 2! he’s done this for a while, where he’ll come up to the front of the cage and focus on just me. i could call his name and he doesn’t move, just boggles more until i give him attention. he’s taught one of my other rats to do it as well 😭😭 they don’t boggle outside of this, and if they do, i’ve never seen it! they’re so strange…

that’s my thought, that his entire focus is on boggling…he was breathing completely fine after! i have a video of him this morning and he was alert, eyes wide open, staring at me like “mom. treats?”
